    TrainSim Screenshots [Large Images]

Some from my first run on the Blackpool branches route, really enjoying it. I think I enjoy taking photos more than driving though! 1700398733 And my second go, taking 47555 from Preston to Blackpool.

    Renfe Civia 464 Fleet

I've just spent an enjoyable week in the Torremolinos area with a balcony overlooking the Malaga-Fuengirola line. I ended up looking out for the fleet numbers on the units, which I've managed to identify as Civia 464 EMU's as they were all 4 car. They appeared to be numbered 2** on one end and...

    ash39's Trip Reports & Photos 3

My thread has once again closed due to inactivity, I can't really complain as it's been a full year since my last post. For anyone interested my previous thread can be found here ! I'm kind of back, I had a day out this month and decided to chuck together a report but then decided it didn't sit...

What to you describe as an "Old Train"?

Yes that's the point I was making - nice (comfy seats, tables, air con) tends to be thought of as 'newer" by the general travelling public. Thereby two trains from the same era canbe perceived quite differently.

What to you describe as an "Old Train"?

You can easily make a train appear much newer than it actually is with a deep clean/refurb, and on the opposite end of the spectrum a knackered looking train can look much older. I think people also view the more spartan rolling stock as 'older', purely as it is less comfortable to travel on...

    ash39's Trip Reports & Photos 2

I did exactly that, though it's pretty much useless until I get a second one as it's very unlikely I'll ever need to go anywhere and not come back! May report is below. I won't lie, it's a big read. Probably the best month for rail moves since before lockdown, possibly ever. Good weather...

    Best UK Train Manufacturer?

Judging purely on how well-built they seem from a passenger perspective, Siemens. Everything works, very few rattles, good ride quality. Subjectively, I think their products tend to look nicer than other manufacturers too.

A poor experience travelling over the Pennines (21/05)

I'm not even sure the LNER was held intentionally! I was on it from Kings Cross to York and I think the 11 minute delay was due to unruly Sunderland fans travelling back from Wembley. Certainly police met the train when it arrived. Have to say in my coach it was mostly well behaved and...

    Class 43 disposals

Surprised it was allowed to travel in that state without a tarpaulin or something over the nose. Presumably they were happy no chunks of fibreglass were going to fly off at speed!

    Non-Urgent TOPS Requests

Would appreciate if anyone could check what ran 1H49 1643 Littlehampton to London Victoria today 20/05 please?? Thanks

    Understanding TFL contactless tickets

So basically unless I have to phsyically pass through a ticket barrier (where it's clear you'll need to present either a ticket or a contactless card to be let through), I don't need to tap additionally? Thanks for the help

    Understanding TFL contactless tickets

I have an upcoming journey where I'll need to make a single trip, so will use contactless rather than a Travelcard. The contactless thing makes me nervous, I don't really understand how it works for anything other than a very straightforward journey using one train/tube. If I want to get from...

    ash39's Trip Reports & Photos 2

I always had a backup, which would have involved the wife getting back into York and then driving back to Leeds to pick me up. I'm glad I made it though, as I don't think that option would have gone down well! Guilty! I often write half the report up as I travel on my phone, and then tidy it...

    ash39's Trip Reports & Photos 2

April report attached, a trip to the North East and a new class of unit experienced, but a pretty quiet month in general.

    LNER Mk4 livery.

I assume they will use the same stripey vinyl from the Azuma livery on the maroon section and the LNER logo will sit where the Intercity logo used to be, if so I think that'll be a smart looking thing. It definitely needs the stripes otherwise it looks like someone tried to copy Swallow but got...

 touché! Good luck in the playoffs. More Yorkshire teams in the top flight the better.

    Newton-le-Willows station car park

Not helpful to your particular case, but I've noticed recently it's now possible to park at couple of stations I used to have trouble parking at on weekdays in the West Yorkshire area (Woodlesford, Outwood and ironically Garforth which had a car park extension just before the pandemic). If...
