    Football

I did wonder if they had approached Town, I suspect we might have declined though given our current predicament not wanting the pitch damaged for the important games v Swansea and Birmingham. I suspect there might have been a cost issue to Halifax as well in terms of catering given we don't...

Transpennine Route Upgrade and Electrification updates

If you want a good vantage point for photos of the station during the work, use the public footpath on top of the retaining wall above the compound. Not much is going on on at track level in terms of the removed deck as I passed on my way home from work in Leeds today, a couple of piles of...

    Football

That's probably why the council are going to put it up for sale. I'm not surprised a reprimand and some kind of instruction from the National League hierarchy hasn't been forthcoming to get the pitch sorted out due to the number of postponements over the years. The Ebbsfleet one was a stinker...

Transpennine Route Upgrade and Electrification updates

There was a huge cutting, I mean a very deep, steep sided cutting there where the current earthworks are being undertaken, it was filled in during the 90's to make the cycle track, the cutting extended along under Whitacre Street and on to where it passed under Deighton Road, although not as...

West Yorkshire Bus Franchising to go ahead

First are just wasting their money and Oxera are guilty of, in effect, ripping them off, unless they know something we don't?

Transpennine Route Upgrade and Electrification updates

It didn't register this morning as to why it had been taped over, first time I've seen them this morning.

First West Yorkshire & York discussion

That is evident in regards to not improving the 372. Everything about First just seems a 'race to the bottom'.

First West Yorkshire & York discussion

Is it an improvement? There is no service in the Almondbury direction from 17.34 and 18.05 with a further 30 minutes before the next service at a time when people need to get home from work. Still no late night service so I can get home after the match Monday to Saturday, in fact it finishes...

First West Yorkshire & York discussion

Are you surprised given First's indifference and stagnation to their whole operations? The launch has been nothing short of diabolical really, surprised anyone has actually bothered catching the services. I caught the X1 from Elland from the B&M stop yesterday afternoon, it turned up on time...

Transpennine Route Upgrade and Electrification updates

I agree, if they had erected a notice in the area it must have been small as I hadn't noticed it. Even if they had let the club know who could have bobbed it on the club website, would have been something. I notice someone had mentioned it up thread but I hadn't seen it.

Transpennine Route Upgrade and Electrification updates

I'm assuming a second deck went on Red Doles Bridge yesterday as the footpath under the bridge over the canal was closed off yesterday much to the chagrin of a lot of football fans yesterday, leaving us with a long walk round to the stadium. There was a huge crane there and although I didn't...

West Yorkshire Bus Franchising to go ahead

You'd be surprised what an enigma catching the bus can be to people who don't catch them it regularly. Work colleagues have often asked me what to do 'it's been 30 years since I used one, what do I do?' let alone downloading an app.

Transpennine Route Upgrade and Electrification updates

As no one has even acknowledged the humour in your post, I will, it actually made me laugh out loud did that, even more than Darren Moore's tactics.

    New Station calendar

I wouldn't be surprised if this is quietly shelved. Design changes and supply chain challenges?

Transpennine Route Upgrade and Electrification updates

Do we know when this is the date? The only reason I ask because if its a weekend, I suspect, the public footpath under the bridge will be closed blocking access to the Leeds Road area on a matchday, with a long detour.

First and their issue with late journeys

Passengers won't come back overnight will they though? A lot of damage has been done to the network by commercial operators seeking profits and prioritising shareholders over any cohesive network that offers a reliable service from 5am to 11/12pm. The franchising system is going to have to work...

First and their issue with late journeys

This is why intervention is necessary due to operators not wanting to run services despite there being a social need, ie people going to and from work, midweek football matches, concerts, socialising. I do think on an evening there needs to be some kind of smarter thinking, merging routes...

First and their issue with late journeys

They just don't seem to care, I had an issue last night, me and my grandson went to take in the Huddersfield Cardiff game, went to get the 18.52 372 service from Almondbury, Bus Times.org showing running late, 10 minutes by the time it gets to Almondbury, goes on to the terminus and then just...

West Yorkshire "Enhanced Partnership Plus" proposal

The fact that the mayor has had to intervene with this proposal should be an indication that bus services are absolutely on their last legs, the fact seems lost on First and Arriva, First in particular, who are only interested in their profit margins and pleasing their shareholders. This is what...

West Yorkshire "Enhanced Partnership Plus" proposal

It has always run from Westgate but only in the direction of Almondbury currently, on the way to Lindley and HRI it does now go from the bus station along with the 370/71. The only service that uses the stop on Westgate in the Lindley direction is the every 30 minute 360.
