I wouldn't have thought the off peak restrictions apply on Saturdays. I'm assuming you're travelling on a Saturday, as that's when the new Ribblehead to Rochdale via Blackburn trains will be running.

It looks like this morning's northbound Caledonian Sleeper service broke down between Stonehaven and Aberdeen.

I'm curious as to whether the platform at Derby can accommodate all 12 carriages worth of Voyagers at the same time, or would they have to shunt sets along the platform?

The train at the top of the list was initially delayed by a points failure between Helsby and Chester. There's also "Police dealing with an incident near the Railway" somewhere along the North Wales coast. Not sure where or what but trains seem to be stood around Flint and Prestatyn.

There was an unplanned 195 empty stock movement from King Street to Newton Heath one day last year, which reversed in the bay platform at Blackburn and ran via Darwen/Bromley Cross. I've a feeling it was a balancing move on or after a strike day.

There also seems to have been a problem around the Lichfield area earlier this afternoon. The delayed 1H18 11:53 London to Manchester Piccadilly left Euston 12:19, but didn't pass Nuneaton until 13:31 (36 late) and Colwich at 15:27 (135 late).

Sadly most, if not all trains from Birmingham towards Exeter for Exmouth start from the North East, so that isn't possible. I'm not sure why the twice a day Manchester to Paignton services don't seem to be running at the moment.

I suspect this may have a negative affect on Avanti. E.g. I recently helped a friend with ticket prices for travel from Crewe to London and back a few days later. Both ways WMR were considerably cheaper than Avanti and presumably because Avanti no longer run none stop between Crewe and London...

Nice theory about it possibly being a Super Voyager, but Avanti only run Pendolinos to/from Manchester. ;)

You're probably right, I'd guess that more pax would board at Preston than Warrington, but I feel it's unfair on those making the shorter journey from Preston being charged considerably more than those boarding at Warrington.

I've just had a random look at fares for travel next Thursday. Avanti "logic": 06:17/07:45 Warrington to Glasgow- both £70.50 Advance First singles. From Preston to Glasgow on the same trains it's £91.50.

Maybe so, although 1R14 still runs with 2x221, this is presumably why it no longer calls at Poulton le Fylde or Kirkham and Wesham anymore and departs 10 minutes later at 05:35, instead of it's 05:25 slot. I'm surprised there isn't at least a connecting service from Holyhead, or Chester as a...
