    Cheapest sleeper in Europe

Interesting as this would be, and cheap for the train fares, the cost of positioning flights would be higher. Thanks for the suggestion though! Are there any cheap ways to get Night Riviera or Caledonian sleepers?... signol

    Cheapest sleeper in Europe

Hi all. My kids are now at an age where they'd find a sleeper train a fun experience. So, where in Europe would I be able to take two kids on an overnight journey for as little as possible? As they are kids, I'd need to book an entire compartment. Start and finish need to be accessible by BA...

    Wightlink Fast Cat train connections

Same company but the car ferry. Thanks to road closures on the way to Portsmouth, we arrived only 5 minutes to departure time, then my 4 year old needed the loo. I took him into the terminal, my wife waited at the car with the 2 year old. We came out to see no car and the ferry pulling away...

    Indian Pacific

A long time ago (2002) I did Sydney - Adelaide on it, in a seat. Some nice scenery through the Outback, but it did go on for a long time! Train stopped for an hour or so at Broken Hill, time for a very quick look around but not much more than that. signol

    Trains on boats? (Trivia)

I travelled from Copenhagen to Hamburg a few years ago, and the train travelled on the ferry with us from Rodby to Puttgarten. The crossing was about 45 mins I recall. Everyone had to get off the train in the car deck, and get back on board when drivers returned to their vehicles. The train was...

    Stranded At Berney Arms

I grew up in Reedham, and can recommend the Ship as the best of the 3 current pubs. It's on the quay, right next to the railway swing bridge. signol
