    Supermarkets discussion

Just a heads-up if you have the Asda awards app: I won £6 yesterday from my last shop, so keep checking the app when you have a shop of over £5. Also it states 'Scan to win', you dont have to with home deliveries, it is automatic...

Or Father Jack when he sort of died - 'He could have been Pope, Ted!' My money is on an Italian Pope too. Not long to find out.

Finding information about trains running near me

Local railway enthusiast Facebook groups are always good if you use Facebook, for the likes of light engine and ECS moves as well as the 'main events'

Things in living memory which seem very anachronistic now

My Mum used to buy junk from the Betterware person (not sure if male/female). One was a large plastic salad bowl 'thingy' with a supposed vacuum seal and a plastic 'button' on the top.

    School fire alarms

Same here. The thing was the end of lesson / break/ lunch bells system was manual and had to be pressed, no separate fire alarm system or boxes on the wall. A nearby smaller school had Colin Crompton 'Wheel Tapper and Shunter's club' style ones.

Think they were going in the 70s too. Catalogue businesses. Didnt they have a card you could put in the window to say it was a 'safe drop off' if the recipient wasn't at home?

Zelensky says it has been quieter, though. Thought it was the first full moon after spring equinox for Easter, Orthodox must calculate it differently.

Most ridiculous things that passengers complain about.

I remember a couple of tourists complaining about the engine noise on a class 156. Window hoppers were shut. When the guard came to check tickets, they asked how to put in a complaint and they should sue their employers as it is damaging their ears. They were deadly serious.

Antisocial behaviour on the railway network

I was mugged on a train in the 80s by some teenage lads. They timed it so they could bail at the next station in seconds. What they were not expecting is that I chased after them, think I ran a mile and it was icy. Lost them in a housing estate, but I remember one of the lads distinctive...

I used to watch it too, that was in the days of limited TV channels. A non-event for me.
