    Effingham Junction signalling problems [21/11]

Rather ironic given a large number of the MPVs are based in the former carriage shed there.

Southern Trains major disruption due to conductor rail problem near Clapham Jn 30/04

I've edited my post now! But they were reversing trains at Balham from platform 2, I ended up on the 0956 Balham to Dorking, which had the rather pleasing headcode of 2Z22 according to Realtime Trains. Between Balham and Streatham North Junction there was a train standing at every signal on the...

Southern Trains major disruption due to conductor rail problem near Clapham Jn 30/04

http://www.realtimetrains.co.uk/train/W74146/2015/04/30/advanced Thought this one might have got stuck between Clapham and Balham, and had another reversed at Balham in it's path as it's showing 177 late in some places, but looking at it again I think it probably made it through just before...

Euston - Manchester, what is this ticket type called?

Thank you very much for the replies, apologies if it's like groundhog day for you yorkie! I've just done a 'dry run' and it looks like the National Rail website will allow you to buy the tickets from TOCs other than just Virgin, but if it's not available physically from stations then I imagine...

Euston - Manchester, what is this ticket type called?

I've just managed to make a mistake ordering some tickets for travel up to Manchester and back for Saturday and Sunday. I wanted to order an Advance for tomorrow and a open single for the journey back, looking at the National Rail journey planner, the tickets were £25 pounds for an advance to...

    Class 458/5

458520 and 456015 are currently sat on the access road at wimbledon depot, looks most odd, almost as if they were about to couple them up!

    Class 458/5

I'm sure I saw a 458/0 out on it's own this morning. Looking at Realtime trains It may have been 2C18 0742 Reading to London Waterloo. If it was then that must have been fun.

    Class 456's on the move?

Living in those parts I'll try not to take offence! But when you say route cleared what exactly do you mean? Not approved by SWT for use on service trains in their Red form? Because the Green ones have been in use for driver/guard training between Shepperton-Kingston/Twickenham, and see use in...

    Dreams, shattered.

    Class 456's on the move?

There was almost permanently a pair of green ones at Strawberry Hill for the last year or so, but they've disappeared recently, as have the short term paths between Kingston and Shepperton, so presumably the driver/guard training on 456s is complete, and some stabling space has been freed up...

    Class 456's on the move?

Have the red 456s done any work on the Windsor Lines or to Kingston/Shepperton yet?

lymington branch to go all electric

I think people are overlooking the obvious solution. A 442 or two with the non driving trailers removed is clearly the answer. There must be someone at Bournemouth who remembers how to maintain them! I dare say with only three carriages they'd be fairly quick off the mark as well. You know it...

An odd request! I study well on long journeys-I need some recommended train journeys!

London to Norwich could be worth a try, there certainly used to be £5 advances each way, though I can only see £9 ones at the moment.

Presumably it's just Two Oaks now.

    Pretendolino to Greater Anglia ?

Saw it on it's way up, looked in pretty good condition, clean and shiny. FGW 57605 was on the front, with DRS 47813 dead in tow, which was a bit of a surprise.

    Class 456's on the move?

Are there differences in the bodyshells or floor heights between the 455s and 456s. The doors on the refurbished 456s certainly seem to be smaller than on the refurbished 455s, both in height and width, and internally the ceiling height seems lower as well.
