    Avanti stopping patterns

I have a vague memory that there might be some very large business parks of the sort that get a lot of meeting traffic from London** or similar whose nearest station is Runcorn even if they are not actually "at" Runcorn. ** Or did pre-covid.

So many announcements, so few people taking them on board

Just checked back, and it was indeed 1H88. At least I know now that there's a reason (even if not a very *good* reason :E).

So many announcements, so few people taking them on board

I boarded a TfW service from LLandudno to Manchester Airport a few weeks ago (at Chester), and the auto-announcer was "stuck" at Colwyn Bay, so it announced all stations from there to Manchester in Welsh and English at every stop. I'm fortunate enough to be good at "tuning out" without using...

    Potential new Cross Country livery

I'd welcome it - not because I like it, but because it should make it much easier to visually distinguish XC and EMR services. It used to be easy with EMT's blue and white livery, but EMR's dark purple and XC's brown can look pretty similar. Particularly from a distance, in lower lighting...

    Hope Valley Capacity Scheme updates

Thanks. I wonder if that service was seriously crammed or if most people are avoiding the route completely?

Are the meagre Transpennine services from Sheffield to Manchester Piccadilly via Huddersfield all 2x3 coach 185s? Formations are not showing on RTT (as I'd pretty much expect).

    Waterloo station masterplan

Did the Waterloo<->Waterloo East interchange again yesterday, in both directions. It does seem to get shorter and simpler each time! Note for next time: remember to walk right to the front of the train (if possible) during the short journey from London Bridge.

Horrendous Hull Trains East Coast ride

That's quite alarming, and it makes the IET bodywork around the window look very flimsy!

Where does the WCML south, become north?

I'd say yes for Birmingham, because some of the London to Edinburgh/Glasgow trains go via this route, that makes it a full first-class part of the WCML for me. Opinions may vary though.

    Waterloo station masterplan

I wonder if the new route to Waterloo East would be suitable for a travelator, as per Manchester Piccadilly? I fairly regularly change between the two Waterloo stations, and although it doesn't take very long as it is, saving a couple of minutes potentially allows new connections and makes...

Another landslip - Knottingley (Pontefract East area)

I wonder if there are any year-by-year railway landslip stats available? The appearance is (to me anyhow) that this issue is getting very much worse, very rapidly. But some hard data on the number of landslip incidents leading to (say) the unplanned closure of at least one running line, broken...

    Hope Valley Capacity Scheme updates

I wonder how busy the two-hourly diverted Sheffield-Huddersfield-Manchester Piccadilly services will be off-peak (on, say, Monday 18th March)? I'd quite like to travel on that diversion, plus the EMR Beighton diversion on the same day (I've done both routes before but diversions are always -...
