    A different perspective....

I retired as an operational railwayman and it is 15 years since I was actively involved in an industry in which I spent around 38 years trying to keep trains running. When I checked my free pass allocation I was surprise to find I hadn't actually been on a train, save for one short ten minute...

6A11 (Robeston Sidings - Theale Murco) on fire near Llanelli (27/08)

Bad as it is, it could have been a lot worse. I don't want to think about the consequences if the train had been conveying Aviation Fuel

    Nottingham 'Bus War'

Trent Barton Service Reductions. In addition to what has already been announced, TB have issued a list of the proposed service levels from next week, 29th March. From my observations on living next to two Sixes routes, every one passing here is empty, not seen a passenger travelling today...

    Nottingham 'Bus War'

Sorry no. TB have not had an outstation at Ashbourne for many a long year (maybe the 70s or 80s when it was just TRENT) although I'm not really up to date after the Sixes timetable change, I believe the outstation, if you could call it that, at Matlock consists of one vehicle (the "Little...

    Nottingham 'Bus War'

Perfectly true Mwanesh. Instead of creating their own network, they simply cherry picked successful routes from other operators, principally TrentBarton, Arriva Derby and NCT and operated five minutes in front of them in order to cream off the other other operators' profit margin on the route...

    Midlands Rail Hub scheme plans

https://www.derbytelegraph.co.uk/news/rail-spending-electrification-derby-birmingham-1761849 As usual with any government proposal - very short on any actual detail on how this would be achieved. No cost estimates and a timescale so far in the future that most will have forgotten it ever...

How bad was your journey today?

Great day, Yarmouth IOW - Lymington, Lymington - Brockenhurst - Southampton Central - Derby - Belper. Every journey within 2 mins of RT. Can't fault it really. Vince

    Future of Class 707

Well, speaking as an East Midlander, I think this whole thing is is just scandalous. Up here in the real world, where the only "new" stock we get for local services is about 30 years old, I can't believe this. You lot in the south live in some kind of parallel universe to the rest of us.
