    DRS Trainee drivers wanted

Cheers for the well wishes guys. So far so good. Have seen or heard of no evidence of the doom and gloom about DRS that keeps being bandied about here. In fact quite the opposite. This is a well run company with a well motivated and happy workforce. The qualified guys who have joined from...

    The two strike fail rule

I think you misread Llama's post and misunderstood his point. He is making the same point as you, that the statistics clearly show SPAD's to be a lot more frequent 20 years ago. When added to your point, makes the comment made earlier, third hand, allegedly said by a manager, pretty futile and...

Can I train as a train driver abroad then work in the UK

I'm not sure myself so this is more of a question than an answer, but wouldn't even qualified drivers in the uk be required to take the tests etc anyway when transferring between companies, this negating the point of going abroad in the first instance? Unless the reason is more practical that is.

    The two strike fail rule

As has already been intimated, the tests are not meant to be fair. It can seem harsh, god knows I know, as I've been there with the tests this year, but you have to stop looking at this as a barrier to stop you getting the job you desire. The tests are simply not an unfair barrier to getting...

    Railway job V 'Normal' job

You're very wrong You're very wrong. Having been in active discussion with a large number of people on this forum as well as another railway forum, about obtaining work on the railway, the overwhelming majority have had employment elsewhere prior to joining the railway. Not sure if many...

    Northern Jobs - Any joy

Ditto here mate. Very poor management and not exactly a good way to encourage good people to apply. I'm so glad I didn't put all my eggs in one basket.

    Looking for advice on freight.

Sorry, had a chuckle at that reply. But I also don't get how it is any different from a late shift on a TOC. Or is it not as dark for passenger trains???? (Just for the record, this is a light hearted post)

    DRS Trainee drivers wanted

Thanks for all the support and well wishes guys. Anyone getting to the interviews had done very well and I'm sure they'll get there in the end one way or the other. I asked them about the numbers and they said there were just over 600 applicants and there are 12 on the course, so getting to the...

    DRS Trainee drivers wanted

Sorry to hear about the guys who haven't got through. Got the offer pending medical and security clearance, start end of October. Have been told that a number will be pooled and taken on in another tranche next year. Can't tell you all how made up I am. Time to knuckle down and take the...

    freightliner

I have had this same problem as many others have. I have been told it could be compatibility issues with your browser. I believe people using Firefox have less trouble with it than Chrome or IE users.

Northern driver operator talent pool Blackpool

I'm starting to wonder about the methodology behind these talent pools. It is starting to look like a way of getting recruitment statistics up rather than a concerted effort to recruit fresh 'talent'. By that, I mean that it seems that there are a very large amount of people who are 'successful'...

Trainee Train(Wo)Man DRS Carlisle and Crewe

The driving side of it, from what I have been told, so correct me if I'm wrong, is things like shunting and moving traction around the rails 'off the network'. I think they also have a role on loads where a safety number is required in addition to the driver. Obviously, it is more than likely...

Trainee Train(Wo)Man DRS Carlisle and Crewe

The Vacancy is for Trainman, which is essentially a depot driving position. If you email and ask for an application as it is advertised, i.e. Trainee Train(wo)man they will send the correct application to you.

    Trainee Driver vacancies DBS

Just a tip for anyone who still hasn't put one it, there is no need for any messing around with anything. Electronic signatures are accepted, which means you simply have to type your name in. It doesn't mean an 'electronic' copy of your actual signature.

    Trainee Driver vacancies DBS

Just got may email reply back. Sent my Application in Monday morning in Word 2003-2007 format. Thought I would post for those who haven't heard yet. Seems they are working through them steadily. Don't give up hope people, it will be worth the patience.

    Trainee Driver vacancies DBS

Come on guys. This is descending into a troll fest and is going of topic so that egos can be flexed. It is not productive or helpful.

    Trainee Driver vacancies DBS

It's the inconsistency that is frustrating. If no acknowledgments were sent out and that was stated it would be fine. But to have some acknowledged and others not it is no surprise that both applicants and hr are frustrated due to a lack of consistency.

Not heard either. I am giving it until the end of next week though before I allow my nerves to get the better of me lol. Although, I do have to confess a smell amount of wall climbing is going on.
