    Single-track station on double-track railway?

I was thinking of a modified Midford where single track becomes double at both ends of the station and platform is where second track would have been. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Midford_railway_station#/media/File:Midford_Railway_Station.jpg

    Single-track station on double-track railway?

Not sure how the ASCII graphics below will appear, but are there any real-life examples of a double-track railway being singled just at a station (XXXXXXXX) due to physical constraints or so that passengers don't have to cross the line? _____________________________ ________/ XXXXXXXX \_________

Confirmed : HS2 West Midlands-Manchester line to be scrapped and replaced with other projects.

With so much in tunnels, what proportion of Handsacre-Euston will actually be high speed? Daft question: because they are smaller, could classic-compatibles go quicker in tunnels than captive units?

Confirmed : HS2 West Midlands-Manchester line to be scrapped and replaced with other projects.

All Sunak's recent announcements prove that we now have government by personal whim of an unelected prime minister who has gone rogue. Anything he personally dislikes is liable to be banned, scrapped or delayed, with no scrutiny by parliament or any other consultation.

Confirmed : HS2 West Midlands-Manchester line to be scrapped and replaced with other projects.

Did Sunak actually say that he will save £6.5 billion at Euston? https://twitter.com/Peston/status/1709531171799937508

Don Valley line probably means Stocksbridge to Sheffield Victoria.

Let there be no doubt, Sunak's plan is a switch from rail to road building.

    HS2 Old Oak Common

Seems likely that OOC to Euston will not be scrapped, but phases 2a & 2b will.

More Delay for HS2, and how should we proceed?

In a nutshell: "Tory government announces new high-speed railway is unaffordable because of 13 years of Tory government."

Lines where semaphore signals are still used

Thanks for the replies. It's close to the hospital and I've seen the gates lifted with lights still flashing to let an ambulance through in the past. Not really a sensible route for emergency vehicles, though. So the plan was to close Gloucester PSB next month but this has been deferred yet again?

Lines where semaphore signals are still used

Will the building stay open to control the level crossing?

3-way turnouts on the main line

Thanks for all the replies. I found the following page yesterday and I wanted to see more examples: https://85a.uk/templot/companion/3_way_tandem_turnouts.php

3-way turnouts on the main line

Are there any of these on Network Rail? If so, I'd be interested in seeing a satellite photo of one, ideally at a station.

Reports that HS2 Euston terminus may be delayed/cancelled

If a vital tunnel from OOC to Euston is deemed too expensive, then how could the one in Manchester be justified? It can't IMO and I think we should start calling this project HSCrewe because that's as far north as it will get.

Suggestion for a new Morley tunnel ?

Green = LYR ? Purple = LNWR ? Red = GNR ? Yellow = MR ? Useful map, thanks (not RCH colours, though!)

    3.8% Fare rise announcement delayed

Whilst cutting spending on public services to make up for the loss in fuel duty (Osborne used to boast about this) as a "freeze" is a price cut in real terms.

    Trivia: Mispronounced station names

Halling Conwy P.S. Good job there's no Research station (of the railway variety).

Potential options for the proposed high speed line from Manchester towards Leeds

My reading is that NPR starts at same height as the existing railway viaducts.
