ScotRail Industrial Relations issues (including conductor strike action)

Drivers get a fixed payment for working a rest day as per the agreement between ScR and ASLEF. This agreement has been in place for a number of years and is based on the fact that there is still a shortage of drivers. In our depot, there is only about 15% of drivers who work rest days. It is...

No replacement bus available from ScotRail (11/9/21)

How long do you think it would take to train staff and get them passed for coach driving? The country is struggling enough to get HGV drivers tested so adding more to the backlog of examiners work is just plain daft. Besides, I’m sure most railway staff wouldn’t want to do it.

    Scotrail Trainee Drivers (Ongoing)

It’s an ever changing situation. There are currently 5 internal applicants waiting on medicals and start dates for Inverness, along with the current 6 trainees so doubt there would be anymore there for a while. Other training is miles behind and the Academy is not yet at full capacity

ScotRail - Trainee Train Driver - Kyle of Lochalsh (22/07/21)

That’s correct about Inverness links. Only link 1 and a couple of volunteers from link 3 (the same link that sign the 08) sign Wick. All of Link 2 and remainder of 3 only sign as far as Lairg.

ScotRail - Trainee Train Driver - Kyle of Lochalsh (22/07/21)

If you want variety up here, Inverness is the depot for that. Four routes (down to Perth, Over to Aberdeen, West to Kyle and North to Lairg/Wick- link depending) and 158/170/HST traction wise.

ScotRail HST Introduction - Updates & Discussion

Suppose it’s an easier to manage if no one is allowed to use it. Maybe the 5 coach extensions should be in traffic to help this situation.

ScotRail HST Introduction - Updates & Discussion

It’s not always one member of staff. For example the 1102 out of Inverness can potentially have 3or 4 staff travelling PASS.

ScotRail - Trainee Train Driver - Kyle of Lochalsh (22/07/21)

For those interested, there are currently 6 drivers in Kyle and a seventh in training. The depot has two jobs- early shift works the 0611 to Inverness, PNB then 1056 back to Kyle. Backshift takes the 1208 to Inverness and back with 1754. No Sundays during the winter- from memory they work...

What new livery? The current liveries will not be getting replaced as these are Transport Scotland specified liveries. All that will change is the small sticker on the doors telling you who they are operated by.

ScotRail HST Introduction - Updates & Discussion

Absolute rubbish. The signals on the end of P3&4 have repeaters on the rear of them to allow to start ahead of the signal. No issue for an HST power car to be ahead of I412/414 as all the coaches will be safely on the platform (unless the incoming driver stops well short of the buffers)

ScotRail HST Introduction - Updates & Discussion

ScotRail have no serviceable “Classic” coaches left. That is a shadow from a tree on the left that’s causing an illusion. Time for Specsavers

    Scotrail Trainee Drivers (Ongoing)

Not in Inverness. A couple of qualified drivers went with a DI after being off for a while but trainees have not been out with DIs. Last info was that there was no agreement reached for the return of training.
