Call for all real 377/387 drivers [TSW question]

I don’t sign the route you are on about but have been a driver since 1991. The correct way to drive is how you describe in the second part using the gradient’s to control the speed of your train. I used to sign 400s also 375s but now drive 59s and 66s.

Moving TOC as a PQA or experienced driver

I know, it’s ridiculous. I suppose it comes under a lapse of concentration, making it a safety of the line incident.

    Different TOCs/FOCs driving experiences

It really depends what you want. If you want shorter shifts, good facilities and be able to plan what you are doing for 6 months stay with a TOC If you actually want to Drive a train and don’t mind what you are doing week to week, long shifts, poor facilities etc then a FOC

    Westbury Cement Works (Westbury Tarmac)

In this instance the shunter is a person. He/She does not take over the train but relays instructions to you via radio. ie, drawing forward, setting back, ease coupling, attaching, detaching etc. Near enough every yard requires the presence of a shunter to access a yard. They are in charge of...

Started on the YTS August 87. During a work placement i kept seeing young lads going into a office. I asked the person in charge of me at my work placement what they was doing, he informed me they was having interviews to be secondmen. I told him that’s what I wanted to do but the only way I...

    Westbury Cement Works (Westbury Tarmac)

Yes, which means Freightliner get charged to use it. 1645271971 You still require a shunter to access both the Up and Down yards at Westbury. Trains can arrive/depart from the Up/Down Reception Roads without a shunter.

At Mendip for Freightliner HH the core route which everyone eventually signs is Merehead/Whatley to Acton via the B&H and via Swindon.

    Westbury Cement Works (Westbury Tarmac)

It’s been in use by Freightliner for a year. Trains run round when going to the Southern and some stable overnight for the Avonmouth or Oxford. As said it’s to save on paying DB to use Westbury Yard.

The childhood models we used to have and giving them a second life…

I still have my first Hornby engine from Christmas 1979, a LNER B12. It came with a circle of track + siding and 7 wagons. it still worked the last time a tried a few years ago. That is the one. That was a very happy Christmas. Next best was when I got a Large Logo Mainline 56, I still have...
