I voted no. I think compulsory reservations (post covid) is a bonkers idea. Why would I want to lose the flexibility of a turn up and go ticket? I would be far less likely to use the train if I had to make and then use a reservation.

Yes. Excellent news! I came back to this thread expecting much jubilation and metaphorical high fiving. What I got was grumpy complaints about how much and pedantic complaints about use of stock pictures.

If big cranes are your thing then Bletchley is the place to be. Both photos taken from the same spot. In the background of the first photo you can see the first sections of the 'main' span over the Buckingham Road have been removed. They seemed to be setting up to do more lifts but it was far...

A couple of photos taken on today's bike ride. The first shows the results of the last span that was removed (in sections). The second shows the new crane which wasn't doing anything as I passed by. Lots more pictures taken by someone more local that me can be seen in the link I posted here.

Well that's solved a mystery for me! MKC is my local station and since the revamp I've often wondered why P2 wasn't a through platform. It looked so obvious that all you needed to do was to get a really big crayon and draw a line from the buffers to the up slow :)

Ever so slightly Off Topic but I just realised that the jigsaw I'm currently doing is of a Blackpool station. A little research suggests this is probably the old Blackpool Central (no details are given - the title of the jigsaw is 'Summer Showers'!).

Re: Brampton Valley Way. Recommended - the unlit tunnels are surreal to cycle through with headlights off (carefully of course).

Today's lift (after what seemed like a considerable amount of faffing to the uninitiated - e.g. me!) I had expected a yawning gap to appear but they seem to have cut out and lifted some inner section of the span. There was some muttering of 'bigger crane next week' and 'lifting out whole...

Nothing much (visibly) going on today - certainly no heavy lifting.

I believe that the building being demolished in the first photo is the 'middle sized office block' that @work-traveller mentioned. It's flattened now except for the two vertical steel members. I've no idea what plans there are for the larger dark building.

I would love to post pictures of flyover sections dangling precariously from a large crane but as of lunchtime today nothing much had changed (unless you count the building demolition). Will look again tomorrow... I guess that crane operators job is one of those 'days of boredom, seconds of...
