Agreed on that. After a period of time you will learn where key signals are such as junctions and ones commonly used for line blockages just through repetition. After that, you’ll be able to have a good educated guess at roughly where a specific signal is on the panel/workstation if you don’t...

Yes. The LOM is the same as they are the local manager. People are free to leave and move around the business as they wish, so advertising their jobs when they move on is normal. If theres lots of vacancies it can mean a few things about the workplace.. 1617353289 What is it you want to...

If you’re spare, you would be classed as working, so would be entitled to choose either HROP/LROP. If you’re booked off, you’re only entitled to flat rate as you’re having the day off on the company, but still being paid for it. If you’re RD and not doing overtime, you get LROP I believe...

I can’t imagine that’s going to be going on much longer with NR looking to cut costs! What grade do you get paid on IST and what would they learn..? AB/TCB/IECC?

You must already have a box to go to, you don’t get sent to IST without one..?

Grade 7 roster with 8hr Sundays on the inner is 52k without any OT. With OT, I know a few guys at my place who’ve done well over 100, if not 110 as 7s. But, they’re always at work..

Doubt that’ll get through as 6 12hrs would fail the fatigue index and doesn’t comply with NRPs (maximum of 4 12hr rostered turns in a row).

Basingstoke ROC has a 99% chance of NOT being a 12 hour roster as NR are trying to get rid of them, so I’d be putting money on it being an 8 hour. Don’t think Basing is going to be 12hours if I’m honest! Hahah I’m sure it’s not that bad with the short straw :p

Feltham and Woking both 8 hour rosters. Feltham is a grade 7, however moving to Basingstoke starting 2021. You’re more likely to get a job at Feltham than Woking. Will take around 1 year off the street to pass out completely should you be successful. Also has a SSM at the location who do...

Everyone on my course was paid Sunday rate and that was 2 years ago and we had people from all over the country. Definitely worth chasing up..

That doesn’t sound right to me. I’d be questioning it and also be on to the local rep! You’re technically working therefore, as per your contract of employment, should be getting paid Sunday rate. You’ll soon learn that if you want anything, you have to stand up and be counted! Pretty sure the...

The point I’m trying to make is just like Gareth says below. It’s extremely rare these days for a company to offer no redundancies, and realistically, it was never going to last. The RMT will always strive to get the best for its members, and as a member you should have faith in them. That is...

Sorry if this sounds rude.. Up until the 7 months ago you finally got a job as a signaller, what was your career before hand? Did they offer no compulsory redundancy’s too?
