Cornish bus operators (excluding First Kernow)

It is good that Plyouth CityBus 11A now goes up Bodmin's Launceston Road to the top where ASDA, Callywith Inn, Kentucky Fried Chicken, Homebase, Farm Foods and Callywith College are situated. Previously I had to rely on Travel Cornwall's town service which is very infrequent. Last Tuesday I...

I took the 223 Bodmin to Truro College bus today. At first the driver would not let me on, saying it is only for those attending Truro College but I assured him I had taken it before. The 223 bus broke down at Lockengate. One of the students said she had been talking on the phone and it seemed...

My knee is improving and I am ready to start using the buses more. However I will take something to rest my leg - a footstool or some sort of substitute such as a bag or box. Which journey would be the most interesting and feasible starting from Bodmin - Lands End or St Ives?

It would be interesting to find out just how many 454s actually stop at Chy Trevail, and how many bring people back. With the library now there and council offices, it needs a good service. It is something worth investigating before contacting anyone, I think. Thanks for the suggestions.

What is FBB? If I am is that a good thing or a bad thing?

I should not really have brought up the matter of the town bus because it is not even First Kernow. It is the 454 and has Travel Cornwall written on the side. They seem to operate on a more informal basis than First Kernow. They seem to bring out a timetable with the best will in the world, and...

Thank you, richw, but FK is inconsistent. I used the FK site just now. Using FK's journey planner, I have to take three buses, but when I used FK's version of the number 27 timetable it showed it running on a Sunday. I have used the contact form to point this out to FK. I have not been taking...

I am really confused now. The link you sent me, diffywood, definitely shows the number 27 running on a Sunday, but I just searched again on Traveline again - this time for Bodmin to St Austell by bus next Sunday. The route Traveline came up with was bus 11A, change on to bus A5, then change on...

Thanks for that, diffywood. I will send a message to Traveline to tell them that they have made a mistake. When I checked the timetable for the number 27, Sunday was greyed out on Traveline's version of the timetable. I did not go anywhere on Sunday because of that.

Help - it is Sunday and I am in Bodmin, and I want to get to St Austell. Traveline is telling me to take a bus to the station and take a train. What happened to First Kernow bus 27 which used to run Bodmin to St Austell?

For me as a short-ish person, leg room is not the problem. If the seat is higher than the length of my foot-to-knee, what I could do with really is some sot of foot rest. If the seat is low, that is fine as long as the seat does not have a hard front edge.

I have been following the discussion of new buses arriving and the discussion about the comfort or otherwise of seats. I just wanted to point out the need for the buses with the more comfortable seats to be on the longest routes. Whether they are being allocated following such criteria or not, I...

Please, please, please, put comfortable buses on routes of more than one hour. Five weeks ago I spent many hours on buses between Bodmin and Truro and Bodmin and Plymouth, and I ended up with a knee ligament injury. The trouble is I am only a little bit above five foot tall and the front of...

Cornish bus operators (excluding First Kernow)

Thanks, richw. I had a timetable some months ago - I cannot remember where I got it from - but it was entitled Buses Operating From Bodmin. Who is Go Cornwall? Is it the new name for Travel Cornwall?

When does the Summer timetable start and how can I get a copy? I plan most journeys using traveline southwest, but it is nice to have a copy of the timetable to browse. I sometimes find timetables available on buses but it is usually just before it goes out-of-date.

Hello, LAIRA. I wonder what you mean. You say that driving a bus is not the place where safety is the main concern. So what is the main concern then? Perhaps the main concern is timekeeping? Does timekeeping rate as first priority and safety second? That would explain some things I have observed...

Thanks, GBM, but you make it sound so dull. In my imagination I could see a bunch of buddy drivers dancing to "Don't cha wish your girlfriend was hot like me" in the MoneySupermarket advert.

On yesterday's bus, a member of staff was standing at the front wearing a high visibility sleeveless jacket with Buddy Driver written on the back, and underneath, in small letters "achieving excellence together". What is his job? Is he a mentor to new drivers, or is this a return to bus...

I have just spent most of the afternoon working out weekend travel Bodmin to North Somerset and back. They have changed Traveline and do not give the usual options. In the end I found a way to get to the transport options and it was asking me if I wanted to avoid going through London! What have...

I was late getting back from Hayle. I got as far as Truro, on the return journey, and boarded the pink, white and blue double decker number 27 at 6.35 pm. The driver diverted to the depot and, while reversing and turning accidentally beached it on stones at the entrance with one wheel spinning...
