You can collect tickets at any Merseyrail ticket office, so Birkenhead Park should be able to print them for you. Just need a card and the ToD reference. They don't show up on the list of valid collection points though. That might actually be further compounding the confusion/issues. I did try...

Try Waterloo (Merseyside) and other Nothern Line stations. I tested a few near there and all offered e-tickets. And Merseyrail themselves saying “QR code” tickets need to be printed.

As posted earlier, Milton Keynes Central to Merseyrail stations (not just the Liverpool Stations group) and vice-versa will give you an e-ticket.

The TVMs might have a sim-card built in that does some limited call-back and fault reporting.

I've seen their RPIs with similar looking devices they were using to dish out tickets at Moorfields to people arriving from stations with closed ticket offices.

I'm almost entirely certain the Merseyrail TVMs are offline, so any updates/reporting from them is all down to a person with a laptop. It's why they don't do ToD, they were rolled out on the cheap.

I think they're doing a cack-handed attempt to avoid making them/rotheram/liverpool look bad when the inevitable once a year rail travellers are fined for not printing a ToD out. No. Not even sure their twitter team have a spellchecker or access to Grammarly.

In the wallet, just scroll down a bit more and select "View x Expired Passes" as that's where they go, they arent deleted.
