Apparently only 7 Ex-Avanti 221s are to transfer to cross country with the new contract. Does this mean a much higher probability of Grand Central getting more 221s to replace the 180s completely as there will be now be spare ex Avanti 221s?

I believe it’s more that there isn’t enough crews that sign them yet to cycle them on full diagram's rather than them not being signed off on the route. (221s have already been to Bradford Interchange on proving runs).

I hope the 221s are in full service soon, Grand Central is getting a reputation for cancellations and unreliability on Bradford services in recent months. They will be destroying their own market for travel if they aren't careful

Hopefully Grand Central will take on any spare 180s coming off lease from EMR. They seem to be having major reliability issues with their current sets so seem to need a few more to run the timetable reliably!
