    Job as a Timetable Planner

I always think the pay is poor for timetable planners. In my TOC an experienced planner is on about 34k. It's even worse in NR at Milton Keynes. 1661612408 Also most planners are desperate to get off STP work as soon as possible which often leaves very inexperienced teams with understandable...

    Short-sightedness of 1960s line closures

The track bed and infrastructure should definitely have been protected from development to allow the lines to be re-opened if needed. Many lines that would be useful now have houses and other development on the track bed.

Some of the opinions on this thread are idiotic - someone not wanting to shift swap (and it doesn't matter WHY they don't want to do it) is now "discrimination" against the person who wants the swap? Any moans to managers of that sort would result in a short "work your booked turn or attempt to...

The actual cabinet is mostly freak show of people who prime skill is to have their head up Johnson's bum - or do you think people like Dorries, Rees-Mogg, Patel etc would really be in the cabinet with a more competent PM? The only reason most of them still "support" him is that they know they...

You sound a tabloid journalist looking for stuff to put in an article. Why would you suddenly join a "railuk" forum when you haven't rode a UK train for 20 years  I'm sure the Daily mail have given you a good pay rise hey?

So much for all the speculation that the DfT would try and buy off Network Rail while ignoring the TOCs!

Does anyone know anything about Gobowen box on the Shrewsbury to Wrexham line? Currently mentioned in a large Shrewsbury and Hereford ad on the careers site: https://careers.networkrail.co.uk/jobs/job/Signaller-Entry-Level-North-Wales-Hereford-Shrewsbury-Gobowen/634 The ad states jobs are a...

The Scottish Government/Scotrail has probably caused teeth gnashing at thr DfT - why would the RMT settle for anything less in England and Wales?

    New Starter & Pensions

Just a point on BRASS for new starters, be clear on what it currently is. Much of the raving about BRASS from "old hands" comes from the fact that BRASS used to have an element of matching your contribution by the BR/TOC. This is not the case anymore for those new to the scheme.

Remember you have to serve 12 months at your initial location. I'm not sure if that is 12 months from start date or 12 months productive in location. Also remember at interviews it will not go down well if you hint you want to move on quickly (even if its the truth!) as the LOM won't want the...

I would suggest the seperate "Evesham" vacancy will cover that area (Cotswold line boxes)! So if you interested in both areas, apply to both pools.
