    New season ticket purchase?

A little late for the OP but for future reference the following may help... https://meldrethsheprethfoxtonrail.org.uk/fares-and-discounts/ https://www.greatnorthernrail.com/tickets/discounts-and-railcards/student-connect

    GN Class 717

There are 717 stop signs at Baldock and Royston, I thought these trains only went as far as Letchworth?

    May 2019 timetable pdf Files

There's a note in table 196 that says 'Maidstone to Cambridge Service will be introduced in December 2019' - perhaps they'll start running training services before then like they did for Cambridge - Brighton.

    May 2019 timetable pdf Files

Thanks @splashoutradio I want to put together a timetable for London Commuters from the Cambridgeshire villages (Meldreth, Shepreth and Foxton) that shows connecting services to/from Peterborough. From 20th May the quickest way home in the evening is a xx12/xx42 service KGX-PBO, change at...

    May 2019 timetable pdf Files

Can anyone point me to a single timetable for the entire Thameslink Great Northern line services for the new May 2019 timetable? Lots of separate booklet PDFs available online but I can't find a single view of all services.

    Thameslink Services/Timetable from May 20th 2018

0624 Royston to KGX today not showing on departure boards, nor in my iPhone app (Live Trains) but was shown in RTT. It duly arrived on schedule and ran to time with about 25% load. How can RTT do this when they use the same National Rail APIs? There are stories of other phantom services turning...

    Thameslink Services/Timetable from May 20th 2018

Fun and games yesterday when the 12 car 1812 arrived at the 8 car platform at Ashwell with the rear 4 locked off... passenger alarm was activated and even then not all passengers got off. 20 minute delay.

We've got the Key, it's no secret... (Smartcards on GTR)

For the first time I've ordered a weekly season on my Key Smartcard to be delivered to Meldreth and it won't load. Customer care have no clue and have asked me to take a photo of the Validator at the station. Card works, and I can see my previous orders on the ticket machine at the station. The...

Great Northern and Thameslink May 18 service changes

Is this a requirement for Thameslink and Great Northern post May 2018? I only ask because it states: Between 18:45 and 19:00 an additional service shall be provided from Royston to Cambridge, calling at all intermediate stations. This service may 28 be formed from a portion which detaches at...

We've got the Key, it's no secret... (Smartcards on GTR)

Thinking about it touching in isn’t so important so long as you remember not to touch out at the other end - and you have a valid ticket of course. The overriding reason for me is that it makes compensation claims simpler.

We've got the Key, it's no secret... (Smartcards on GTR)

I don't think you can use those on Great Northern, at least not on the trains that I take.

We've got the Key, it's no secret... (Smartcards on GTR)

Not always possible at Kings Cross - occasionally all gates are open and not enabled - like yesterday (22/3/18) at 1800

We've got the Key, it's no secret... (Smartcards on GTR)

Made the mistake of adding keyGo to my Key Smartcard. This has rendered the whole card useless and I've had to revert to paper tickets until it gets sorted. What isn't obvious is that if you enable the service you can't load a season ticket onto the card until you've 'loaded' the keyGo service...

Great Northern and Thameslink May 18 service changes

Interesting that the attachment shows the 1812 KGX to KLN decoupling I assume at CBG and going from 3x3871 to 2x3871. This is exactly what the current 1814 does except it splits at Royston with the rear set serving the villages of Meldreth, Foxton and Shepreth. So the decision to axe this...

Great Northern and Thameslink May 18 service changes

There was a rumour that the fast train from Huntingdon and St Neots developed a temporary halt at Hatfield one year because the son of a certain PM who lived nearby went to college there.

Great Northern and Thameslink May 18 service changes

Cambridge also attracts a significant number of tourists, with the resulting benefits to the economy which is one reason why they run fast non stoppers during the day. I expect there will be significant patronage from Gatwick as well as Eurostar with people with heavy luggage who prefer direct...

Great Northern and Thameslink May 18 service changes

Looks like the timetables are now uploaded for Meldreth/Shepreth/Foxton and it's not great news for the commuters from the villages heading for London. Still working out the impact but in summary longer journeys, swap to 700s - or a return to the days of waiting 10 minutes at Royston for...

Great Northern and Thameslink May 18 service changes

We only have 4 car platforms at Meldreth but with the introduction of the newer through trains we regularly get 8 car trains stopping there. The budget to extend the platforms only extended to Shepreth and Foxton and then only to prevent the trains blocking the level crossings - so only the...
