Ideas for improving the CrossCountry timetable

Limited capacity but still possible. The Edinburgh to Glasgow is still only half hourly. Platform 1 is empty for a good proportion of every hour and could accommodate a 4 car Voyager.

    XC Voyager Refurbishment

Well some people might disagree over exactly what an 'English rose' actually means. It could be WHITE! These hues already existed anyway, complete with Pantone number. All XC has done is try to cover all bases with the names. 1713989907 It's a medical fact that children are taller now than...

Ideas for improving the CrossCountry timetable

Run from Haymarket to Glasgow Queen Street rather than Central. This would give Falkirk a direct link to the East Coast and catch out Lumo with their apparent intention to run to Glasgow.

    XC Voyager Refurbishment

They're obviously removing the yellow stripe to signify the First Class coaches. A disappointing livery. Tweaking the existing colours would have been better.

Scotrail HSTs - 4-5 years in

Because of the nature of the braking system and the brakes not actually slowing the train for a good 5 seconds after application. This was all new to drivers who had only driven DMUs and EMUs with instantaneous braking. It was a thought that it would prevent buffer collisions if the trains were...

Ticket machines: Why has QWERTY been abandoned?

My Sky TV is also ABC which is very slow when trying to type in a full film or programme name. Someone, somewhere has it in for QWERTY!

    Inverclyde timetable recast

So stations like Bogston and Cartsdyke are only going to get one train per hour? Looks like there's going to be a lot of changing at Port Glasgow. This isn't an improvement on the pre Covid timetable at all.

    british rail seat moquette

Did Stagecoach ever use their beachball or chevron moquette on their TOCs fleets?

    Inverclyde timetable recast

ScotRail has made the decision to completely recast its Inverclyde timetable. This is a positive, particularly for those on the Wemyss Bay line who will soon enjoy a half hourly service for the main part of the day. Gourock will also have a half hourly all stop service and a limited stop train...

Scotrail HSTs - 4-5 years in

I believe so but ASLEF still want rid by next year.

    New 465 interior lights?

I think it's more wasteful to refit an entire fleet using LEDs than to replace as and when, finding the best colour match to the old tubes. Incidentally, a noticed a few LED tubes fitted 'upside down' on a ScotRail 156 and that seemed to create a more agreeable tone.

Ticket machines: Why has QWERTY been abandoned?

It was already pointed out that the QWERTY layout has been around for the best part of a century. Elderly people would have to be living under a stone never to have encountered it. Disabled people are also well aware of it and I'd say a pretty high proportion of them actually use computers more...

Scotrail HSTs - 4-5 years in

I'm just wondering what the point of repairing the tree damaged power car, or reactivating the Slateford sets. Aslef's Scottish organiser has stated that the union and ScotRail are working towards retiring the HSTs in 2025, so it seems like more good money after bad. The same as fitting WSP...

    New 465 interior lights?

Don't any fleet engineers ever ask the passengers what they prefer? LEDs are ghastly.

Ticket machines: Why has QWERTY been abandoned?

Thanks all for your comments, I think that there was never any logic behind making ticket machines ABC, probably just someone thought it might be a good idea. I obviously prefer QWERTY. What about drivers setting up their details in cabs? Trying to input headcodes and destination codes on an...

Ticket machines: Why has QWERTY been abandoned?

I have noticed that on every ticket vending machine that I use that the traditional QWERTY layout of the keys has been replaced by an ABC version. In my experience this actually slows down my interaction with the interface. Is there any logical reason why the TVM providers have changed this...

    How could Lumo expand/develop/improve?

Passengers arriving into Glasgow Central do like having a train in that station to take them to their east coast destinations though. The alternative is a ten minute walk, with luggage, to Queen Street to board a ScotRail shuttle to Waverley only to charge trains and platform yet again.

    How could Lumo expand/develop/improve?

How do Lumo deal with walk-up passengers who hold anytime returns, off peak returns or indeed staff PRIV tickets? Is it purely reservations only?

    RailAdventure Power Cars

As they are fitted with buffers, two power cars coupled together are essentially like one big locomotive? I've not been following this thread

    Caledonian Sleeper

Free tea and coffee would be a great gesture for all 'guests' staying in the berths. After all, you can find a kettle in every Travelodge or Premier Inn room. Caledonian Sleeper is competing with these chains and and early morning day train. If they want people to believe that they're staying...
