2024 Local, Mayoral and PCC Elections

I was surprised to find that when I went to vote for the Surrey Police and Crime Commissioner this morning that there were actually four candidates; only one of them had actually bothered to send any information around so we could have been forgiven for thinking it was just the incumbent versus...

Class 701 'Aventra' trains for South Western Railway

A friend on board 701 043 who was hoping to get the 11.33 departure from Waterloo has advised it has just become the second ever in service failure, with a door fault, after two reboot attempts taking 30 minutes.

    Guess the Train...

Ta-da! :) 37 611 at Orient Way on Monday, taken from on board a passing 720.

    Guess the Train...

I'll bung in what I hope will be a quick, obvious one just to get it moving again...

Elon Musk - the world's "greatest" spiv?

It may be related to the driving range scandal that has already reached the legal stage?

What are your first impressions of the new TGV-M.

...and the original TGV front end design looks much better than either ( whether in Orange or blue and silver ).

    General Knowledge Quiz

Surely that has to be a Rolls Royce engine?

Elon Musk - the world's "greatest" spiv?

He must have had enough of all the issues coming to light about those cars!!! The latest is that apparently the UK market Tesla cars, while their odometers are showing miles, are actually counting up in km. This got noticed last month when some drivers noticed discrepancies on known distances...

Companies That You Expect to Disappear Soon

I think we may have had this combination before... but just in case not... ( Image is of a "Perfect Thread Coupling" on this sub forum in which this thread is parked immediately above the Rishi Sunak / Conservatives one. )

Progress on Avanti West Coast's 805/807s Hitachi AT300 sets

In purely aesthetic terms, I quite like them as they are - much better visually than the 390s... This is one of those things that's very subjective to an individual, though. If you showed 100 of us a picture of any particular train and asked what we thought of the appearance of it, you'd...

    Formula 1

I think that was Verstappen ( Senior ) in Germany? The fuelling hose detached while still pumping. Same year, though...?

HS2 Manchester leg scrapped: what should happen now?

This wording in the document is somewhat ambiguous in that it could simply be political weaseling - just deleting all reference to HS2 2b and substituting Network North / Northern Powerhouse / The Mayoral Proposals / whatever. That would have the result that the government axemen could claim...

In other words.... room service, but without the hotel staff doing the delivery?

Here are 805 009 at Euston on 15th April and 805 005 there on 29th April - in both instances in platform 10.

Companies That You Expect to Disappear Soon

A bit more variety on their menu would help... ...and I don't mean the "stuff other than beef" joke either, before anyone replies with an adaption of the Two Ronnies "The Complete Rook" sketch...:lol::lol:

    Formula 1

    1) It gets better: as a positioning flight, they weren't allowed to charge for it... :) 2) I don't suppose you took a picture of us flying low over the circuit by any chance...? If you did, I'd love to see it...

Greater Anglia Bombardier Aventras (Class 720): Technical discussion and introduction

Ah... I didn't see mention on here, or seen them on RTT until now... Updated: I have been reminded that not only were these two in service on 5th April, but I was actively feeding someone their whereabouts from RTT on that date...!!!

Greater Anglia Bombardier Aventras (Class 720): Technical discussion and introduction

Unless RTT isn't showing what it's doing right now it's berthed off peak - the next working appears to be the 16.15 Liverpool Street to Clacton ( with 720 514 ) 1714405792 720 138 + 720 102 have entered service this evening. Currently inbound to Liverpool Street from Southend Victoria due...

    Class 710 LO

710 375 wouldn't be on the Goblin; the five car units don't fit the platforms... It could be on the North London Line, however... but as it's berthed at Watford at the moment I think you're right in that it'll be on Watford to Euston all day.
