    I was making the point that you can't fly to Sydney for £303 without booking in advance. But if Starmill is correct there are no tickets other than Anytime tickets on which you can travel without fear of being in breach of contract.

    Since OP doesn't tell us what time she was travelling I can't find the appropriate ticket. And I don't what your rant about being denied travel on a valid ticket has to do with my statement that there are adequate online resources for finding the best value ticket.

    It is more complicated but there are online resources that can find you the cheapest rail ticket just as easily as the cheapest television.

    It is no different to buying anything else. If I want to buy a, for example, a television I don't just walk up to the first shop with one in the window and pay what is asked. I shop around for the cheapest or the one with special benefits. Just as I do for a rail ticket

    Platforms 13 and 14 at Manchester Piccadilly are a long walk from the concourse. Almost as if they were a separate station :-) Does my memory fail me but ISTR that you used to be able to access these platforms directly from under the bridge on Travis Street.

    Bus drivers these days have to be content to accept Concessionary Travel Passes. 80% of the passengers seem to use them and the first bus after 0930 is always packed.

    I have had difficulty persuading bus drivers to accept Greater Manchester Wayfarers. They insist that it is a railway ticket. And to be fair it does look like a railway ticket.

    Not only is the EU not stopping us leaving, it cannot stop us from leaving. The right to leave is set out in the treaty by which we joined and the EU is nothing if not bound by law. (Unlike the USA where they sacrificed almost a million lives to prevent a few members from ceding)
