Thanks and good luck in the interview!

Maybe the way I wrote my messages did come across as... well selfish and certainly not humble of me to have used that attitude. Apologies.

    Stagecoach West/South West/South Wales - Fleet News & Discussion

Gloucester Depot have just recieved 4 Enviro 200s from West Scotland. These are SF10 *** reg vehicles and I believe 4 Enviro 400s are due to leave Gloucester depot according to an Operations Supervisor. 5 more are due to arrive on Tuesday.

    GWR Apprenticeship

Firstly, in my original message I was quoting certain jobs within the industry rather than the apprenticeship in particular. It was a small comment that I made saying that I am one to find stupid things like that interesting and I was expressing why I think that it was a good idea.

    GWR Apprenticeship

Thank you very much for the replies. I have always wanted to become a Train Manager and I am the type of person to already know platform lengths, signals, train frequencies, connections etc so I think it would be a valuable career. The pay seems good for the Conductor/Train manager role as well...

    GWR Apprenticeship

Hello, I am currently at the point where I need to decide what on earth I am going to do with my life. I have looked into many things but the railway is something that will always outway the benefits of other jobs. I was wondering the chances of going for a Conductor/Train Manager role after...

    GWR Class 800

For the users who are confused with what sizes and shapes go on which route, here is the general allocations. 10Car 800 - Bristol, South Wales (North Cotswolds & South Cotswolds from new timetable will appear at times) 9Car 800 - Bristol, South Wales, South Cotswolds & North Cotswolds. 5Car...

    GWR Class 800

In the 21st century, what company is going to think that the best way forward is a table at most seats, a buffet car, power cars, extra first class and a replica of a 40 year old train? It is not practical, and the Intercity Express is fairly practical. It works on short and long journeys, can...

    Stagecoach West/South West/South Wales - Fleet News & Discussion

I don’t get why they used 10 reg buses when they could have used one of the VX13, the unbranded YN14 and for Swindon one of the YP14 reg ones?

    GWR Class 800

I must be out of this world thinking that the HST ride quality is generally worse than the IET. - From a person who uses them at least 2 times a week from Gloucester to London, not from Swindon to Didcot once a century.

GWR/LNER IET first class: is it a downgrade?

I certainly agree about your point for improved catering, but many people do like the trolley option as well: not needing to lug everything up the train to get to there. Secondly, this thread is about first class and not the future when money grows off trees.

    GWR Class 800

One issue, complete redesign of the project. Great logic. The issue is that people can’t get there heads around the fact that HSTs are not what the DfT and TOCs want in the 21st century, hence why the 800 is designed in a way to express less of a personality. Being young myself I like both...

    GWR Class 800

A to C via B. A to C being on time, B being a decent service from the company. Others seem to think the future is A to Z via everywhere. I don’t care if broadgage wants 72 first class seats with a fully fitted buffet car on his perfectly run GWR network but it is not in the slightest...

Why the attraction to splitting and joining services at various GWML stations?

:DMay I ask why individuals on this website have a particular like to splitting when it is a hassle and unnecessary? Only place I can see it being useful is on Penzance at Plymouth. If you were to split at Cardiff, I’d have a right laugh watching the signaller try it and still keep a time schedule

    Stagecoach West/South West/South Wales - Fleet News & Discussion

It’s quite true that we have had a good amount of new buses. My point is that the YX63 buses went off to Bristol, we had darts not fit for duty. Cascading units which are decent are fine but it creates the cycle. Stroud are horribly unlucky. Route 1 for new vehicles? That’s the “have your...

    Stagecoach West/South West/South Wales - Fleet News & Discussion

Gloucester always gets cascaded vehicles. Yes we are getting new vehicles for route 10 (and possibly 97/98) next year but that’s about it with all the PO11 plates coming to us.

GWR Intercity Express Train (IEP) initial diagrams & allocations

No, it will stop/dramatically decrease once HWR have sufficient stock of IETs.

    GWR Class 800

Read the original quote. The impression forgiven suggests that there should be more nine cars about. What people fail to understand is there are circumstances where five cars could be nine and ten when nine and ten could be five. But GWR can’t get the 13:00 from Penzance up for the 13:20 from...

    GWR Class 800

Just like Cheltenham’s, Cotswolds are mainly okay for a five car after they split off at Oxford/Swindon. People say split at Oxford but it’s a busy station and would increase journey times as well as require staff.
