RMT Strike Action Thursday 20th, Saturday 22nd and Saturday 29th July 2023

This. Hardly asking for the world. Just leave the jobs alone for goodness sake.

ASLEF strikes February 1st and 3rd

What do you suggest then? Unions just give up? And accept the thousands of job losses and safety reductions on the railway?

    Northern Rail discouraging travel

I think your best bet would have been to have physically approached the guard on the platform and got on by them to allow the purchase of a ticket. It’s a lesson learned, but one you’ve learned while it’s a £20 fine rather than £100.

Wembley Central - West Midlands Railway Platform 5 & 6

The short and narrow platforms are I believe the reason. The UDS system isn’t ideal when you’re so close to London, call there on a full and standing 8 car and there’s inevitable issues with people being overcarried. Event days I believe LNR even started putting their extra calls at Harrow &...

    "Over By Christmas"?

Yep. Timing and severity of the strikes have certainly caused conversation. Let’s hope it works out now. Workers and public happy for Christmas would certainly do the current government the world of good.

    "Over By Christmas"?

Couldn’t agree more. No Tory bashing and no union bashing, just grapevine and updates!! Promising to read some of the stuff on here.

Point being it isn’t empty but I can always get a seat. I like the choice. It was said in jest.

Weather disruption Sunday 17th July and following few days

Yeah that must be why, along with termination at Tamworth. Almost a throwback, doing something unusual as a best attempt to help passengers. It has thrown up the bizarre situation where Kings Norton only services since things went bang have been to/from Bristol and Longbridge has a non stop...

Weather disruption Sunday 17th July and following few days

Admittedly not, however one would assume something would have been put in place at Leamington and Dorridge for the passengers for Coventry and International respectively.

Weather disruption Sunday 17th July and following few days

It must be. It makes sense for them to use Kings Norton. As for Longbridge, I’m told it’s to connect with the Number 45 bus to Birmingham. Excellent work by XC.

Weather disruption Sunday 17th July and following few days

Well done to XC (and Chiltern) tonight. Final Reading to Birmingham (1M78) terminated Dorridge where a Chiltern (1R29) was held to allow a connection for passengers on to Birmingham. XC have also utilised Kings Norton to terminate and start a couple of Bristol services (1Z64, 1Z67). Also the...

I certainly have that as part of my motivation. Immense pride in the system and hope and pray that can remain.

    Rail strikes discussion

The piece in the Daily Mail has one particular part that needs to be looked at. I don’t have the best of knowledge regarding Birmingham New Street but did Guy Adams have a vantage point that allowed him to observe a ‘bearded ticket inspector’ leave his mess room, enter Greggs (and buy a sausage...

    Rail strikes discussion

I think the point he was trying to make is that if he has a contingent guard on who isn’t experienced to the same standard, does the job once in a blue moon, and they dispatch against Red then he would feel less assured in taking the train forward with that guard on board. Maybe there shouldn’t...

Nobody is ever fine with dispatch against a red, if you’re referring to that post with your bit on ‘threatening to go ECS’.

    Rail strikes discussion

One would imagine you’re unlikely to get staff approaching strikebreakers shouting ‘scab’ aggressively and repeatedly in their face. If reported it wouldn’t go down well with the company. But if reported, the name of the ‘scab’ would then be brandished around more. I think the unwritten rules...
