European cities with ‘classic’ bus/tram still in service

Apologies if it's already been mentioned, but Zürich still has plenty of Tram 2000s (Be 4/6) knocking about, a design dating from the 1970s. They're gradually being replaced - I believe some are being exported to Ukraine - but they're still around in numbers.

    GB Resident and Ireland InterRail

Just double-checking really: as an England resident with a UK passport I can still buy an Ireland InterRail pass and use it freely in Northern Ireland. Correct? Thanks.

Will the number of rail enthusiasts decline in the coming years?

I don't think rail enthusiasm will ever die out, but it simply isn't as popular as it was in its heyday, broadly-speaking 1950s-1980s. That's a fact. Personally speaking (80s bashing generation if it helps understand my perspective ), the modern UK mainline scene is utterly vapid to me. I still...

    Night sleepers the future.

Same goes for the Cornish sleeper too. Patterns of working may have changed, so there is less emphasis on people getting to west Cornwall for a day's work or a 9am meeting, but it would be a brave person who pulled a plug on it. Cornwall's MPs may be all 'blue' now but 20 years ago none were. It...

    iLink and Enterprise

Need some help here. The iLink ticket looks like a good value option for a day's train travel in Northern Ireland, but I'm not sure the Translink website is too clear about how it works. Couple of questions, if anyone can help please: 1) Is it valid on the Enterprise within NI? Website says...

Covid restrictions abroad: updates & observations

Cornwall Voted Brexit is a neat soundbite, but I shouldn't really have to point out that the reality on the ground is a much more nuanced thing. The Truro & Falmouth constituency voted majority Remain and the St Ives result was fairly close. Even as a Remainer myself, I can understand the...

    Urgent TOPS Requests

Hello. I gather 57604 worked 1C50 last night. Can anyone confirm if/when it is allocated 1A50 tonight please?

Companies you don't like to buy from, and why

Amazon and Wetherspoons for the reasons outlined by others above. Amazon I will use as the absolute last resort if it's something I really want and I really can't get it elsewhere. Wetherspoons used to be last resort but the Brexit propaganda and treatment of his staff during lockdown were the...

TOPS Requests (including headcodes, allocations, traction, etc) [Instructions in Post 2]

2Z56, as mentioned above. I understand TOPS isn't 100% accurate. I had a pretty good look as we went past Laira, but I suppose I could have got it wrong. Don't think so, though.

TOPS Requests (including headcodes, allocations, traction, etc) [Instructions in Post 2]

Ah, thanks, but funny you say that, was in a bit of a scrum to get to the rail replacement bus at Plymouth with my family, hence why I couldn't get the number. Was happy to assume it was 025, as we'd had that pair on Friday. However, as the bus went past Laira I'm pretty sure I saw 025 there...
