Advice on seeking season ticket compensation following Salisbury rail crash

An update on this situation. I'd emailed SWR a couple of times requesting updates, and each time received a "nothing has been agreed with the DfT so please wait" response. This week, out of the blue, I received a cheque for £50 from SWR in respect of my Delay Repay claim. There was no further...

Advice on seeking season ticket compensation following Salisbury rail crash

Well, I can't say I'm impressed that a member of SWR staff in the ticket office at Southampton Central has suggested advice that would open me up to claims of fraud!!!

Advice on seeking season ticket compensation following Salisbury rail crash

Yes, I'm going to give them a week or so. I spoke to a member of station staff at Southampton Central today who suggested I could always file Delay Repay for the journeys I would have taken, had I chosen to use the remaining running services rather than cycling instead. Agreed. I would be...

Advice on seeking season ticket compensation following Salisbury rail crash

Hi all, Many thanks for all your help in advance. I hope I am posting in the correct section! To preface my issue, I hold an annual season ticket for travel between St Denys and Romsey for my daily commute to work. I'm sure most of you will be aware of the horrible crash in Fisherton Tunnel...

Not anymore, this used to be a thing (my first ever trip, I pre-booked and paid for breakfast) but they've since stopped doing it. I even rang up prior to my last trip to see if I could pre-book dinner over the phone, but was told they don't do this anymore. Seems daft that they would stop...

Here's an interesting article that popped up in my Google feed, particularly one part which reads: In particular, the part about guests being offered an overnight hotel stay with onward travel in the morning. And here's the article: https://thepointsguy.co.uk/reviews/caledonian-sleeper-train/

The lounge and Gower facilities at Fort William are fantastic. I've also used the showers at Glasgow Central and was surprised at how nice they were. Unless it's cheaper booking into a Club Room, for future sleeper rides I intend to book Classic and simply use the showers at the destination...

Ha ha, sorry! I do like trains, but I must admit sometimes a lot of the jargon, headcodes, abbreviations, etc. do go over my head!

Wicked, thanks for the info! I'll keep a copy of the NRCOC saved to my device just in case something happens, hopefully not though!!!

Is there somewhere where this is written down in black and white? Not that I'm doubting you, it's just handy to have it as a backup if one of the TOCs tries to pull a fast one. Have a journey from Bitterne to Liverpool Lime St. coming up soon which I've split into multiple legs, and it would...

Is it just the case that these sets need to be broken in a bit? A few thousand miles under the belt and things will start to settle down?

Potentially silly suggestion, but would the issues with bright lights in the seated coach not simply be solved by wearing an eye mask? I wonder if it would be worth CS providing one to seated passengers as part of their fare.

I'm guessing the lack of news in this thread about mishaps on the new stock on the Highlander route is a sign that things are going well so far? *tentative thumbs up*

Surely in this situation, it would be better to have an allocation of "bargain berths" on services that are predicted to be quiet? At least it gives Serco a bit of money back rather than just shipping around a load of air.

Seems one of the old Mark 3 sleeper cars is being sent to the Bo'ness Heritage Railway Museum. https://www.scotsman.com/news/transport/retired-caledonian-sleeper-carriage-joins-historic-predecessors-at-rail-heritage-exhibit-1-5018546

It definitely took me a few goes on the sleeper before I worked out the knack to getting a decent night's sleep. The problem I find is that I fixate on the slight movement of the train - this keeps my brain concentrating and therefore never lets me fall past that point of no return when trying...

On a side note I would highly recommend the Highland Chieftain (which is the name given to the 8h day train that runs between London and Inverness) - exceptionally comfortable HST service (for now!) that runs through some fantastic countryside. But yeah back on topic, the significantly longer...

Just thinking about the topic of missed stops and what have you reminds me of a situation that occurred when I travelled down to Fort William back in April - a passenger boarded at Kings Cross with a considerably sized bag. The suggestion was that he stored it in the guard's wagon, which he...
