Just go and do it. Worry about what happens if you fail if you actually fail. End of the day no one is forcing anyone to take these assessments. If people think it's too risky going through Avanti's process go and apply for one of the others where there's no risk to precious assessment...

Not really. The only numbers I'm interested in is keeping the incident count to zero when I'm at work and the days until I retire. There's one thing you don't want to be on the railway and that's a statistic. There are some that keep tabs on the traction they drive/have driven though I believe.

Define "trained"? One in regards to a trainee driver and enough in relation to different types of traction and routes.

I suppose you'd have to take numerous things into account before that can be determined as factual. For example some TOCs show far less leeway in your training that alone makes things far more difficult....that's before you take into account complexity of different routes and different traction...

Last time I checked there's no 2 driver courses the same and I'm speaking from the point of view of someone who speaks to the last bunch of virgin trainees on a daily basis and having been a trainee once myself for a different TOC.

Define what's the best? There's not many drivers out there who don't drive the same traction and go over the same routes most days. Some would say that doing the same stuff most days gives you a sense of certainty about your day and it helps with planning your workload and your personal life...
