Correct me if I'm wrong here but references are up to the last 3 years of employment. So if you work with your current employer for 3 years then that's the only reference they'll need. Again, correct me if I'm wrong.

I did that. I live in Bristol but applied for Plymouth and ended up in the talent pool. No harm in trying

What happens to those of us that were placed "in a talent pool" when initially applying, does anybody know?

Mendip was the next closest to bristol, I applied for both (living in bristol)

No I didnt receive that email. I messaged recruitment last night and got this response this morning " We will provide you with an update as soon as we have a vacant position/course. Quite often we have candidates in a talent pool for quite a while"

I've been in the Plymouth pool since march 2020, not heard anything from them

I agree. Also, from a potential trainee point of view, if you do the assessments first and then fail the dmi, you still have the assessments under your belt for 2 years free of charge. You can then go on to apply for other TOCs when they hire with your assessments... straight to dmi.
