From @Deltic1961 in another thread. So here's the speculation. A government of the future asks, why do the railways exist at all? What reason do we have them? Because, speculation abound, they could well be closed. So if the question is "justify the Railways", how do you answer?

If you can imagine the voice of a passenger going "But there wasn't even a ticket machine for me to BUY before boarding," then you can imagine why there are ticket machines.

It's unfair to say "amateur hour" if it's a serious attack by outside sources for which Northern and their IT team are simply unprepared. Do we know how big an attack it is? Because if it's this complex to repair, and the attackers are not amateurs, the fix might be more than anyone here...

It's a good theory. I suspect behavioural psychologists will have years of guaranteed work ahead of them looking into all this. From the economic background of the shops to the political leaning of the borough, a lot of tiny factors must build up. I will keep looking around me to see how things...

Now here's a real divide for you - my local Co-op is still majority masked, the local Spar had me as the only person (customer or staff) wearing one!

My bus home from work at 100% mask wearing downstairs, about 70-80% upstairs. The family of four without did make a case of theatrically hissing "no point in keeping them on" and that sort of thing in earshot!

That sounds like a very good idea, I had some plans for travel in North Wales and a one price fits all ticket helps with that. The name is "bus" with a "w" so I'm fairly certain it's pronouncable.
