    GWR Train Driver talent pool

    What’s your question mate?

    GWR info

If I were you I’d consider holding out and applying for a job in Cornwall, what you want will come up eventually. Sounds to me like being away from the family and staying in digs isn’t worth it. Just my opinion

    GWR info

Very true although things change, so best not to rely on that

    GWR info

I know for new trainees it’s 2 years productive before you can even apply to move, I imagine it is the same for qualified drivers coming across, so 2 years plus however long the queue is

    GWR info

Everyone has their gripes, but gwr pays well and I feel valued. Obviously the work wildly varies on depot so that would depend on where you ended up.

    GWR Train Driver talent pool

Hey, yes it is the same for all courses, as Taff said, between rules and traction, although if it’s urgent you could potentially change this for front end turns, trainer dependant.

Don’t worry about your dyslexia, so long as you let us know then no problems. I have trained a few people over the years who have dyslexia, we can work around it

Very true Stigy, but yeah they are to see how things are going, not pass/fails.

    GWR Train Driver talent pool

Yeah 166 and 165 for the moment but the traction’s are headed west

    Station Approach Speed.

Exactly, thanks for putting it much more eloquently than I could.

    Station Approach Speed.

I’ve never known quicker than a month unless it wasn’t a cat A.

    Station Approach Speed.

It usually depends on the severity and whether network rail get involved and want to do their own investigation. Once all investigations are complete and appropriate retraining given, driver is allowed back. Could be 1 month or 6+, varies massively

    Station Approach Speed.

Ah yes that’s the spelling, Ladbroke. But yes the straight off trains is true here too
  14. C

    Station Approach Speed.

That’s the one, it’s just not true

Depends how far you go back TPWS has been around for years and years. GWR has had more TPWS lately due to the new traction nothing else. You weren’t talking about PTI though. Trap and drag for example might well be comparable to a spad
  16. C

    Station Approach Speed.

It matters because you would then understand that having a spad is a drivers nightmare. As far as managers go, the SPAD stats are those looked most closely at. I mean no recent deaths that I know of but ladbrook killed 31 people and injured 100’s. Hey look it’s not worth getting annoyed about...

    Station Approach Speed.

Well anyway, like I said drivers think SPADs are more serious, as do managers, although I suppose that depends on the TOC.
  18. C

    Station Approach Speed.

Out of interest, are you a qualified driver? I’m not sure there’s a driver I’ve met who would have your opinion
  19. C

    Station Approach Speed.

True, how many overruns that didn’t involve having a SPAD have killed dozens of people?

    Driver training

Just to clarify here, it will be different per TOC, but for GWR, Assessments you can fail in Driver Training are PTS, Interim 1, Interim 2, Interim 3 and 200hour Sim. Of course if you are generally struggling they can speak to in between those. For all of these should you fail you would have an...
