Again, where did I say his opinion was any less valid? I was told his opinion was MORE valid.. I asked why that was the case. It would really do you some good to read the posts thoroughly before commenting.

Erm.... you do realise that HE is only one person too? Again, I’ve not claimed I know all there is to know about these seats - all I asked is why is his view more important? Especially when I use the seats twice daily.....

He knows more about a train seat than I do? Despite me sitting on them every day Monday-Friday? He’d have to be doing some pretty intimate things to those seats to know them even better than someone who sits on them daily!:lol:

Oh no - not IAN WALMSLEY?! Why on earth is his opinion any more important that anyone else’s? I’ve done London and back several times on an IET and the seats are perfectly fine. 1613987129 Of a spec you have no clue of as yet... Yet here you all are, stamping your feet and crying...

So you’re telling me that people are whinging this much about seats & they aren’t even sure of the spec of them yet? Oh that’s hilarious.

Thanks for confirming that I haven't. 1613908049 I agree, but I haven't based my opinion on something I know nothing about. I've clearly stated that the 800 seats are perfectly acceptable - I know this because I travel on them daily. and if you think rolling eye emojis on a forum are going...

HAHA so I can't have an opinion because I'm not sad enough to know about seats? Nobody is lecturing anyone - I'm just saying that being proactive in giving your opinion will be far more influential than rolling your eyes on a forum. :) 1613904514 Where have I claimed that enthusiasts don't...

Why not contact TfW, rather than ranting aimlessly on a forum? :) 1613903640 It is rather amusing to see people from parts of the country that the trains will never reach, ranting about them. Similar seats to the 800s and 802s? (I'm not really anal enough to know much about train seats) well...

These are all fair criticisms, ones that can be rectified in time. BUT, some of the extreme hysterics on here by some are nothing but laughable and pathetic.

Long term, that simply isn't an option. The age of the 150s and 153s dictate that. That is where the 197s come in. Cleaner, more environmentally friendly & uniform stock means its a lot easier to maintain and manage. They are already keeping the 170s and I wouldn't be surprised to see 175s...

Yes, helping replace them after May - I thought that would be obvious, seeing as it’s obvious they can be used now, under dispensation.

well aware that they are available now; Captain Obvious. But I was talking about when their dispensation ends. In which case, they will be more usefully post refurb, as they will still be able to run. It’s not hard to work out.

Prime example, 150 just come off the Marches into Cardiff 22 late (1704 for Carmarthen). Swapped for 175002 because of a train fault.

Aware that they aren’t planned to work the Marches much, but they are there and more common than some realise! Swan Line, West Wales, even the odd one to Maesteg - the notion that they are now only on the valleys, is utter nonsense. :)

Progress of delivery of cascaded/refurbished/PRM modified stock to TFW/Wales and Borders

But there are. Lots of main line work before the timetable cut was 150. My morning commute from Carmarthen to Cardiff has just been changed from 150 to a pair of 153s. 150s appear quite regularly on the Marches too! The 150s still go all over, the additional 153s will replace that, leaving...

I take it that you aren't a fan of 197s @Rhydgaled? You'll be amazed how the vast majority of Joe Public really doesn't care too much about seats/window alignment. As long as the train gets them to where they are travelling on time and isn't over-crowded, happy days. I must say, I do chuckle...

I'm not quite sure what you fail to understand - where 150s are currently doing work, such as on the South Wales Main Line, the 153s can replace those 150s and strengthen elsewhere. It will literally free up 150s by replacing them.
