Trivia - Intervisibility of tram stops.

In Nottingham, you can see David Lane and Highbury Vale stops from each other. Also, The Forest and Noel Street.

Trivia: Most annoying sound made by a train

The rattle of the overhead luggage racks on a 170 Turbostar - seems to happen when the unit is at a certain rev or when idling But of course, the mother of all irritating sounds...See It, Say It, Sorted o_O I've not travelled by train since February, please tell me it's been dropped?!

East Midlands Railway livery and station branding

I wouldn’t say that my comment or that of others would be considered as ‘flapping’ but hey ho. EMT did adopt a relatively neutral scheme and I understand the points about a corporate font but from a business perspective I would have thought EMR would have been quicker to introduce a...

East Midlands Railway livery and station branding

Is there any news of the rebranding of stations? It's been a year since EMR took over and stations still have a very much Stagecoach feel to them. Hubberts Bridge has been done out in the new branding, and you see how quickly Avanti plastered things like station running in boards with their...

    Blue Pullman Returns

This looks like a good venture and wish them every success with it. I'd be interested in travelling on it, but if I paid that price for the Pullman Dining experience and arrived to see the remnants of former TOCs interiors I'd be wanting a discount! I really hope they make something special out...

    EMR Class 170 updates

I think it's finally nice to see some investment in the regional routes around the East Midlands after so many years. The. 170s may be 20 years old but they still look and feel modern compared to the 153s and 156s. The video is rather dramatic - if you listen carefully you can hear French...

RPI blitz at Derby this evening.

I’ve seen this before at Derby (albeit under EMT days). RPO’s at the Pride Park side of the station, at the barriers but with them open and physically checking every ticket causing long queues across the bridge. The queue was so long that I missed my connecting bus to work, so (politely)...

East Midlands Railway livery and station branding

Interesting that the purple has a similar sweep effect as the LNER red has. Perhaps done deliberately to match or will we see a similar vinyl replacing the red on the HST sets? Nice to finally see EMR adding some branding, just a pity they haven’t done anything with stations and uniforms etc.

    221127 at Cardiff Central 13/12/19 ~2130

I used to commute from Nottingham to Derby and on odd occasions a Voyager turned up instead of a 170, but yes it is extremely rare.

East Midlands Railway livery and station branding

I travelled through Nottingham and Derby yesterday and noticed all the staff are still wearing EMT uniforms (albeit with the EMR purple tie). It's more noticeable now that the cold weather is here and they are wearing the fleeces with East Midlands Trains embroidered into them. I noticed some...

East Midlands Railway livery and station branding

I understand that EMR probably wouldn't re-livery the 15xs as they are going soon, possibly the HSTs, but the Meridians may still be around for a few more years until the IEPs arrive so it would make sense to at least do those. I would have thought that EMR would want to establish their brand...

East Midlands Railway livery and station branding

Do the Meridians not comply with the new rule about yellow front ends, or rather not needing one? Sorry, I can't remember what it's called but it's something to do with the brightness of the headlights? It might not be to everyone's taste but think it looks quite smart. I always thought the EMT...
