DB Cargo - Fast Track Drivers (15/11/22)

I can't say I've seen it on any other ads. They ask if I can get to the depot at unsocialable hours or live within a certain distance, and maybe even ask what methods you would use in pre-application questions, but not normally driving license. They do know there are cycles, buses, and my own...

DB Cargo - Fast Track Drivers (15/11/22)

Why do they require a driving license? I haven't seen that on any other train driving job adverts

DLR - Passenger Service Agent (07/10/22)

Although ultimately still a good salary, the job is a guard, revenue inspector, shunter and driver, with a license that cannot be transferred too. LU revenue are on £55,000+ as it is, and drivers obvious much more. Depends on how you look at it. However as discussed in previous DLR threads...

Mixing of NR and LU/TfL technologies, terms and policies on the Lizzy Line

So for the central sections down to Abbey Wood, they use Communication Based Train Control, typical of many Underground lines. They advertise service updates on the TfL website using TfL terms, and have branding and customer service that falls under the TfL umbrella. I understand MTR's contracts...

    Trainee Train Driver (London)

Unless policy has changed, while Train Operator positions are advertised externally VERY, VERY rarely, they can appear externally.

CIRO - Is it worth Joining?

I've never understood what they're about or what the purpose of being a member is. I joined, didn't see any value, and left in a week.

    Job reposted after Interview

I don't I'm afraid, internal recruitment communication (my post refers to incoming recruitment) is shockingly poor, so I have no insider information, but Metro Guard comes out fairly often. Keep in mind the conditions that new entrants will get are quite poor, and there is a new method of work...

    Trainee/Apprentice Drivers - Various Locations - Chiltern (19/07/22)

Sadly the training centre would be a 2 hour commute each way for me (the depot I'd apply for isn't), which I'm just not willing to do. Oh well.

Trainee Train Driver - Heathrow Express (Talent Pool) 08/07/2022

I'm a bit confused with the mentions of different training and shorter courses. I see you can move depots after 2 years... but does the training here mean you are considered as a "Qualified Train Driver" if you were to apply for such jobs at other TOCs?

Commission rates that Guards receive for selling tickets onboard.

Wouldn't they have to deal with more abuse from evaders?

Commission rates that Guards receive for selling tickets onboard.

Considering the piss poor pay I've seen for SWR revenue... they don't get commission either?

    Job reposted after Interview

I already am. I'm current at SWR, and while it's an awful company, the recruitment was actually half decent. I even had a phone number I could call. So they're not all as bad as each other. MTR(EL) are also awful but at least will eventually reply to your email, even if it needs a poke. C2C were...

    Job reposted after Interview

C2C are indeed a very unprofessional and careless company, with two of my emails about a Trainee Train Driver going completely unanswered and no phone number to contact either. I withdrew my application because of it. I also saw the original prior posting for this job but didn't apply, glad I...

    C2C - Trainee Train & Shunt Drivers - East Ham (14/03/22)

I finally got an email today that I have been shortlisted to attend a stage 1 assessment centre, but the email was forwarded (as shown by "Fwd:" in the subject). Still no reply to my other two emails though. Such poor communication that I'm considering not to move forward with this at all...

    C2C - Trainee Train & Shunt Drivers - East Ham (14/03/22)

Wow, recruitment has now stooped so low that we don't even get replies that we're unsuccessful? Sounds like an awful company. What is it with recruitment in this industry? I emailed on the 29th of April asking if there were any updates or when I could expect to hear any. No reply. Madness...

    C2C - Trainee Train & Shunt Drivers - East Ham (14/03/22)

I'm still waiting. I emailed last week along for any updates, but as usual with any TOC, no reply.

    DLR Passenger Service Agent (29/01/2022)

Funny how recruitment teams do so much to filter out applicants, expect the most from them, and if we were unprofessional, we wouldn't be picked... yet recruitment (across many companies) is as poor as you describe. Sad really.

    C2C - Trainee Train & Shunt Drivers - East Ham (14/03/22)

I'm also voting for website as the most disfunctional I've ever used. Hideous. Then again, typical railway!

    DLR Passenger Service Agent (29/01/2022)

I am too, with how close these recent adverts have been. As I understand, you do not get any NR discounts. I'm no recruitment expert, but from what I've gathered, only MTREL or London Overground/LOROL offer both a TfL staff Oyster and a 75% NR leisure priv card. It isn't to be sniffed at...
