Lothian Group discussion (Lothian City, Lothian Country Bus and East Coast Buses)

They're limited to 49mph, all of the XLBs (well 80kph, so 49.9 or whatever it is but it reads as 49).

They are nicer to drive than the 'regular' XLBs, although they're out for longer it's much less intense on the drivetrain/body. Flat road, fairly smooth in comparison to the rest of the city and more running time on the route.

One of the Airlink blocks leaves the garage at 0343 and returns at 0116. Usually the bus is fuelled, cleaned and back out again around 0330-0430.

Edinburgh Tour Operators: Bright Bus, Lothian (Majestic, Three Bridges) etc.

Wraps can easily be replaced in a day if they start to look untidy, or replaced entirely with a new design. They look great for now, but I think could be a bit brighter (pun not intended!).

Fully refurbished to a high standard, bodywork and interior included. Too good to get rid of until new buses arrive that can displace them. Also City needs the deckers they have for now.

927 is out in service on the central operated rush bus 34, it should go onto an X33 afterwards.

Trivia: Rare and unusual bus and coach types

It was dreadful, deafening engine noise and absolutely flat as a pancake. I really enjoyed the manual Javelins there, pleasant clutch/gear action compared to the B10Ms, Tigers and DAFs. This little thing was a rocket, also a possible contender for 'unusual'; https://flic.kr/p/YS2bJk

Trivia: Rare and unusual bus and coach types

Dennis Javelin/Duple 300 (bus) body? Had the misfortune of driving this one a few times at Edwards Coaches, all noise and absolutely no go with the ZF 4 speed. Bit of trivia on this bus, Edwards were buying a number of Ailsas from Ferris Coaches (Nantgarw), and on the condition they bought all...

I really don't think it's a big deal using paper displays on completely non standard blinds, when they're only being used on a uni shuttle that's not available to the public.

I wouldn't say it looks too bad, it's great to see it back in the fleet though.

Passed 664 headed east on the M8 just now, has that been away?

Would have thought pressing 905/6 into service would be more preferable than putting SDs on decker routes, but needs must I suppose.

Yes sorry I should have clarified that, it was last at Cardiff Bus with fleet number 996 there. It was in Edinburgh yesterday.

Saw BZL BV23NNT (997) headed east down Princes Street this afternoon, amusingly for me displaying Not in Service (www.cardiffbus.com).

    Bright Bus Airport Express service

All of the drivers on the 20/63/68/Airport and open tops have bright bus uniform from what I've seen. I'm guessing they do all routes at Livingston?
