I don’t work for Avanti but I’d imagine your train handling hours could be on any day of the week so another job would be impossible irrespective of their rules.

Had my medical today. Went well and quietly confident (famous last words) having originally applied 2.5 years ago.
The chap carrying out the medical said that FL seem to be hiring a lot of trainee drivers based on the number of medically he was carrying out. Makes sense I guess. Catching up...

Thanks Terry/Numbskull. So the only rule of thumb is 12+ months. Sounds a bit open ended. Hopefully with Covid rules being relaxed, training shouldn’t suffer any disruption!
