    Haha, Sounds good to me.

    Preserved class 60s.

I'm no expert and this might be a daft thing to suggest, but as a prospective locomotive would no longer need to be on the main line pulling what could be a few thousand tons of train on all rail conditions etc, could a lot of the wizardry and magic be bypassed with something simpler to make it...

Why are todays railway engineers not as well known as they were during the steam era?

This is spooky, I was just wondering about this recently.i personally think in the past you had to generally speaking have to be somebody with money or be in the right place at the right time, whereas nowadays there are so many universities or places anyone can study engineering etc and there's...

New Northern service on the Durham coast line.

I don't know why it doesn't just stop at all the stations for a complete service to be honest

New Northern service on the Durham coast line.

Hi everyone, i can't find if this has been discussed already but Northern are running a "semifast" extra service from the December 10th timetable change between Newcastle and Middlesborough. Does anyone know if they're bringing in an extra train or two or just using what they've already got?.

    Sunderland Station - Disused Platform

Excellent photos tge1435, but personally it doesn't look much better than the rest of the station below ground. I remember when the newspaper trains used to stop there.

    EMU preservation

I accept that we all have our own opinions of what should be kept and why, I personally mourn the loss of class 304,305,310 etc but saying something shouldn't be saved because it would be stuffed and mounted is I believe a similar attitude that the NRM and others took when individuals wanted...

Class 58's in France cut up

You'll need a 45 gallon drum of ink to supply your pen for the modern foreign trains.

Class 58's in France cut up

Ouch, that "not" in capitals sure put me in my place, but I thank you for clarifying what I thought was correct. I had thought they were not one and the same, but working together as it were.

Class 58's in France cut up

I know that 58 050 is earmarked for the NRM but what is to stop it meeting it's class mates fate?

Class 58's in France cut up

They do quite well, the 66s needed work to cut down on the vibrations in the cab and weren't they almost blacklisted because of this? The 68s apart from being pig ugly I can't comment on them and the 70s, aren't they a bit thirsty? No more of them being ordered, freightliners sitting doing...

Class 58's in France cut up

I totally agree, it's odd that they were supposedly no good here but good enough to go abroad to work. 1689595741 Again I agree, I mean the 31s had to be re-engined, the 47s had loads of engine problems then bogie cracks on 40s and peaks, westerns with bogie issues, when you look into it no...

Class 58's in France cut up

Personally, I'm not bothered what some people think, I love the class 58's and miss travelling to monk Fryston and Worksop and other great locations to see them, yes they weren't perfect but what trains are. From seeing the mock-up model and reading about them in the Railnews when I was a...
