CrossCountry - Apprentice Train Driver - Multiple (19/09/23)

It was the middle of March for me. So I was at 5 weeks, I didn’t have any call to say well done you’ve passed! It was more ‘Hi is this J3053B?’ ‘Yes’ ‘Right the next stage for you is OPC, dates are here and here, choose one’ No need to give up hope yet!

I enjoyed it actually, the DM’s that interviewed me were very welcoming. The questions they asked weren’t generic necessarily but take your time with them and use STAR to formulate an answer. But this is their only chance to find out about you as a person, these people are going to be your...

You would go for medical, if there’s a space on an upcoming course for your depot and you were top of the list you’d be offered. If not you sit in a talent pool until a job comes available (may or may not ever happen).

Go to platform 3 at Bournemouth Station, walk towards the end of the platform ( direction trains leave for London) you will find a door that has cross country on it. Ring the doorbell and someone will answer it. Had my interview there over a week ago :)

NR - Track Maintenance or Off-Track

Off track is great used to work on it, more day shifts than p way as you don’t generally require possessions for the work they do.

Then take it with you. It’s actually easier to carrier off once it’s been consumed!

    Eating smelly food on trains

As a guard of seen and smelt most things people are going to eat on a train and none of them have been particularly bad. What I will say is, if you can carry something on to the train and eat it - then you can bloody well put it in the bin or take it with you. The British public on a whole are...
