Trivia - stationless towns with the nearest station in a different county

Pretty sure the nearest station to Llay in Wrexham is Cefn y Bedd, it Flintshire/ sir y fflint.

Merseyrail legacy fleet updates (Class 507/508)

507 032 (I think?) is on the Ellesmere Port line today.

Conwy, Penmaenmawr and Llanfairfechan now compulsory stops?

Slightly off topic, but that’s the most easy to read timetable for the North Wales Coast line I’ve seen. The calling patterns aren’t half bizarre. Conwy should really have an hourly service such is its appeal as a tourist destination. I’m glad it’s not a request stop any more. It would be nice...

Surly greeting at Liverpool Southparkway - TOD collection

I also notice you mock Merseyrail staff accents a lot. Not a good look.

    2024 Fare Revision

Will fares ever be frozen? They’ve increased by some amount basically since privatisation. The government clearly don’t like subsidising the railway. I don’t understand how a rise can be justified after the disgraceful service levels this year, whether it’s below inflation or not.

Best Decorated Station For Christmas 2023

I’d like to put forward Conway Park, all the drawings done by one of my very talented colleagues.

    Merseyrail Contactless payments

Not everyone wants to use a card. Not everyone has one. There should always be the option to pay with both. I don’t believe someone who has cash, a form of payment, should be denied access to a service because they want to use cash.

    Merseyrail Contactless payments

Will people still be able to pay with cash? A lot of people still use it in Merseyside. Stations should be kept staffed if this is implemented - for upkeep of station, passenger information ect.

Glad it’s an isolated instance. Yeah the staff at Cressy are great.

    Conwy Valley Line

They’re not going to close the line. Political suicide. No lines currently open bar ones with parlimentary services are going to close - so it’s pointless advocating it. I just don’t see how it’s ‘realist’ 1702550605 The boulders have massively helped - the line doesn’t get flooded nearly as...

Surly greeting at Liverpool Southparkway - TOD collection

Surprised at this. I work on the same network as this member of staff and I always serve with a smile and try my best to be as helpful as possible. I don’t see the point in being rude to the public unless we are getting a barage of abuse. Even then you have to try and be professional. Not good.

    Conwy Valley Line

Why are rail anthusiasts advocating closure. Go away!

90% of Network Rail workers expect a major accident to happen in the next 2 years due to cost cutting

Why are so many on a rail forum supporting of cuts to infastructure? Other threads theres idiots who think we should *close* some rural branch lines. The mind absolutley boggles.

Future of Ticket Office Consultations launched

I’ve lost count of the amount of times you’ve mentioned how much you hate that merseyrail have ticket offices. 1688593713 Anyone with half a brain can see it’s a smokescreen for just cutting staff. The anger I feel towards these proposals is quite disturbing!

    Conwy Valley Line closed

Mad on a rail enthusiasts forum it appears some would happily see this line closed. The mind boggles.

    Ticket office closures

I’m not going to delve into this too much. Sure, eventually E tickets (and tap in tap out on some networks) will be the only way to have a valid tickets - the vast majority of those without smartphones will eventually die off. But for the meantime, the idea that a ticket machine is better than a...

Are Transport for Wales rail accountable to anyone?

Public railways are much better - IF they are ran by a government which actually funds them. I wasn’t alive during the BR days but a lot of people of yesteryear talk about how bad it was they ran it into the ground. Look at mainland Europe, many countries have fantastic railways which are state...

Are Transport for Wales rail accountable to anyone?

The service on the Bidston to Wrexham line has been abysmal. The 230’s are absolutely useless. Take them off passenger service until their faults are fixed and out the 150’s back. It’s unacceptable this line has had basically an unusable service for months now. Get it fixed. It’s not hard. They...

Potential Merseyrail expansion beyond Headbolt Lane and/or timetable improvements

What would make sense is using Upholland. It’s close to the motorway (but not to a junction) and the closest to the middle of skem. Bus terminus big car park could be Skelmersdale Parkway. It’s far closer than some stations called ‘parkway’ - Tiverton parkway is over 5 miles from its namesake...
