    McNulty Report

I'm not the one who is corrupting someones name because I don't like what they say! If you don't like the BBC 'wheeling out' Mr Wolmer then try contacting them yourself. Your opinion is as valid as anybody else's

    McNulty Report

I don't know what Christian Wolmer has ever done to you, but ill-informed he is not. More objective discussion and less vitriolic spleen please.

    BR's Free Travel

Costing millions? I really don't think so. The country is hardly awash with active and retired railway staff is it. I mean, all of the trains I drive are absolutely choca with rail staff...not. If there is any truth in something like this being printed in a rag like the screws of the world then...

1st Day as a newbie train driver

First turn was with a Class 86 taking vacuum braked sleepers from Willesden to Euston, running around them on one of the backing out roads and then backing the train into the station with a shunter in the leading end. I knew about the move but had never done it before even after 4 years as a...

    waiting at signal

Never mind about the engine. The nights are still chilly. No engine=no cab heat.

    Driver misses station

I remember an occasion a number of years ago when amended Sunday diagrams, mine included, were missing stops at Hatton. It was only after a growing number of us had failed to stop there that the penny began to drop. It's great when your fireproof! :D

    Guard operation of doors

'in theory he/she will stop' !! of course the driver will stop. One buzz or bell is part of the bell/buzzer code and means only one thing...STOP.

The real facts behind the ATW potential strike please

That's the point. The railways do operate on a Sunday but if my terms and conditions for the last 37 years have always allowed me to choose not to then I am not going to except a change to those conditions without some sort of compensation. There is also the fact that a Sunday is overtime. If...

Chiltern running on London Underground tracks

In the up direction...60mph from the NR-LUL boundary to about halfway between Chorleywood and Rickmansworth then it drops to 50mph. 25mph through Rickmanworth. Back up to 50 until just after Moor Park then 60 again. 35 through north Harrow Jn then 40 again at the overbridge before the station...

The real facts behind the ATW potential strike please

Why must it be part of the working week? Have you ever/do you work on Sundays? If yes then we can discuss this. If no..... leave it to those of us who do work on Sundays.

    Evergreen 3

It seems like the Network rail engineer did know something:- take a look at Chiltern's website!

    Evergreen 3

It was suggested to me this morning by a Network rail engineer that Chilterns mainline project is running about 2 month's late. I wouldn't be surprised as some monday's seem to have seen very little work done. Any one else heard anything?

    Chiltern May 2011 Timetable

Ha! The freight gets looped does it? Not a couple of weeks ago when I was waiting to leave the up bay at Banbury and the freightliner that Banbury South had pulled off for 2-3 minutes before I was due to depart finally passed me 5 minutes after I should have left! :-x

    Sod the passengers?

I never cease to be amazed by the different standards in operation around the country. At the London terminus I work into, station staff will routinely open up and start units if it is called for and there are certainly no time limit's on how long the doors can be left open on a train. Perhaps...
