    Ryanair and Easyjet

I don;t think any company would be very keen on that, but as I understand it, at least some of the business models rely on a comparison between predicted sales and actual sales. If the prediction is exceeded, then the price will rise, if the number of booked seats is lower than the predictions...

    Ryanair and Easyjet

I can understand why people who pay last minute fares might think they are subsidising those who book very early and pay much less, but I agree with the last three posters that it isn't actually the case.

    Transatlantic Air Fares

Definitely book through the airline. Be wary of being taken to dodgy companies when using the likes of Skyscanner. It's a bit too early to be booking for next summer at the moment. There might be some sales later in the year or early next year. It's more likely that airlines will be looking to...

Blackpool Airport to reopen for scheduled flights

I think it's a waste of time. Small regional airports have no future. Swansea airport has never had any ambitions. Air Wales was a local business that tried to operate out of there, and they were the driving force, the airport has never been very interested in scheduled flights.

    Carlisle Airport, will it work?

I don't think Carlisle Airport will be a success. It's only chance is finding a niche market of some sort, which I feel is unlikely. There's too much competition from Newcastle, Glasgow, Edinburgh and Manchester.

    Easyjet hold baggage

You can definitely add bags after booking, that much I'm sure of. I don't think it's possible once OLCI has been completed, except in person at the airport. I understand that checking in effectively closes down the manage my booking facility. But as I say, I could well be wrong and talking rubbish.

    Easyjet hold baggage

I think I read or heard form someone else who had the same problem, and it was not possible to add hold bags after on line check in. I'm happy to be corrected by more knowledgeable people, as my memory is a bit vague about what exactly happened.

Should Birmingham and Southampton airports be considered 'London'

London (Wales) ticks the box for me, but I can see a lot of confusion when people want to travel to Caernarfon or somewhere in north west wales and think that the airport would be a convenient place to arrive...on the upside they may be able to catch Gerald to Bangor...on the downside they may...

Should Birmingham and Southampton airports be considered 'London'

I prefer London (Cardiff). It may be the only way to revive its fortunes!

Should Birmingham and Southampton airports be considered 'London'

As cruise companies refer to Southampton (plus Harwich and Dover) as London, it would make sense from their point of view at least!

    Sydny to get second airport

Indeed, so the question is why would we want to, and where should it go if we d want it! And it ism, of course, as we have seen over the last few years of endless debate and discussion.

    Flight advice?

I think £720 is a reasonable fare with Emirates via Dubai. You may be able to save a bit on that by taking a more obscure, and longer, routeing. That may also possibly involve low cost airlines with reduced levels of comfort and added charges for refreshments and luggage. If I could afford...

    Malaysia Airlines MH370 "Lost Contact"

Whatever happened this must be one of, if not the, most weird aviation incidents ever.

Favourite Current or Former Passenger ship operating in the UK

I like Brittany Ferries, but I prefer the Bretagne to the flagship Pont Aven.

    Air travel to Chicago

I did look into air fares to various parts of the States with a view to a visit this Summer, but even back before Christmas it was impossible to find anything below £690. As has been said, APD is quite a chunk of the fares now, and going via Dublin may provide a more reasonable fare. It may...

Scheduled helicopter flights to Scilly Isles axed.

I agree. Penzance might not be pretty but it is a friendly town, with a station that is well situated for the centre and the bus station and some lovely pasties!

    Morecambe Bay Hovercraft

This has even less chance of happening than the catamaran service across the Bristol Channel that was proposed a few years ago but never got off the ground!

    Driverless Cars - the future?

Zoe has a point regarding discriminating against someone who does not have a licence for health (e.g. eyesight) reasons, and not giving them the job on those grounds when the job content itself does not involve driving. This has recently been an issue in my own organisation. I was indirectly...

    Driverless Cars - the future?

Absolutely right. However I feel I must commend Zoe for refusing to back down in the face of seemingly unanimous opposition, though not so much to driverless cars as the idea of central pools of driverless cars that can be called upon by anyone at any time. This has been a most interesting...

    Driverless Cars - the future?

Well said jonmorris0844. It is a huge leap forward to driverless cars taking over completely, and even then the idea that they will turn up on demand from some sort of central pool has previously been very effectively scrutinised and found to be flawed on previous occasions. That being said...
