Haven't been there for a year, but try the Truro to Falmouth 153s around 5pm...stuffed to the gunnels with at least 30 standing. Wasn't even an event at Falmouth. This is after the introduction of two trains an hour as well! Needless to say there was no ticket checking taking place due to...

Likewise the 17.40 Reading to Newcastle...after Sheffield it appears to run from Holmes Junction/Rotherham Central, Aldwark/Thrybergh J to Mexborough East ie the old XC route avoiding the new Swinton...all at about 25mph. I assumed it was a one-off for engineering work, but was a Friday.

Agreed, though the huge increase in student numbers (of which my son was one) has made a huge difference, to say nothing of revenue protection at Truro. Some sort of annual student deal would be ideal for the line as students live at all points on the line...plainly getting on at Town or indeed...

As far as I can work out, through trains from Paddington to Falmouth finished in 1978.

Have to say, my comment was rather tongue in cheek, as I recall the Peak hauled XCs stopping at Masboro' and it always seemed a busy place. However in reading other comments and how the town is changing, it seems reasonable to stop some TPEs there...a kilometre from town is certainly not...

Try the 125 group website...recently diverted, mid-week, on a XC 125 via Sheet Stores, Toton to Clay X and we were only 4 down at Sheffield. I know XC has generous timings though.
