    What old stock still exists?

    In preservation yes.

Can and will train seats become comfortable again?

I used to think that until the last time I sat in one. It was on the pretendolino from New Street to Euston. Not long after it had entered service so the cushions and covers were fairly new. My back didn’t thank me and the fixed armrests were a pain. I was much happier once I had gone to...

SWR Class 458 to be retained

To be fair if you were forced to stand from Guildford to Waterloo you would be miserable.

Class 80x driving question (possibly others too)

Thought the other overspeed was Lumo rather than LNER

SWR Class 458 to be retained

To be fair it’s DafT calling the shots anyway.

Is third rail bad at acceleration?

Agreed especially as 444s are 23m cars and 450s are 20m cars. So the 444 cars are heavier.

Wheelchair user unable to board Azuma in reverse configuration at Kings Cross

As someone with a disability yourself I am surprised that you think any delay is acceptable because of this particular reason. They could have an important meeting at the other end or be attending an event. Or there could be another wheelchair user on the next train meaning Doug would have to...

SWR Class 458 to be retained

The only thing that restricts who they can go to is the fact they are DC only.

XC have re vinyled 3 x Power cars at Laira

Do you know how much difference that money being spent elsewhere would make on the service? Almost none. It’s statistically insignificant.

    Class 43 disposals

Probably because they are all in bad shape. I seem to recall that EMR weren’t happy with the sets they inherited from LNER.

SWR Class 458 to be retained

You say Porterbrook charge astronomical leases but the 458s that SWR are leasing are being leased from…. Porterbrook.

SWR Class 458 to be retained

Subsidised? You could’ve fooled me with their prices!

Why aren't there dedicated bike spaces or USB charging point on the 378?

444s only had them in first class (and one half coach of standard IIRC) and are a regional express train rather than an inner suburban commuter train. In most stock today BS1363 sockets or USB sockets were fitted during refurbishment.

Class 37 and 47 window glazing.

Glazing helps as the driver needs to look ahead.

RIP Great western 125mph.... (IETs to have speed limiter automatically set)

If speed set makes drivers switch off perhaps they need to rethink their career and that goes for professional road drivers too.

Merseyrail legacy fleet updates (Class 507/508)

And we watched the reliability of the loco hauled stock plummet for the obvious reason that as little as possible was spent on maintenance and repairs on a fleet about to go off lease.

    Best UK Train Manufacturer?

Funny you should mention the TMST I seem to recall the press launch was delayed by 2 hours due to technical issues. It was very embarrassing for Eurostar at the time. There were quite a few teething issues with it.

    Best UK Train Manufacturer?

Class 175, 180, 458, 334 all had or have reliability issues.
