Help!! Caught with FAKE TRAVELCARD in 2005..2020 summoned to court

Did you call a number on the correspondance you had been sent, or did you call one you had looked up seperately?

Refund due to King's Cross closure

There were definitely posters at all Great Northern/Thameslink stations regarding the Kings Cross closure by the start of August- fairly sure I saw them as early as June. Emailing you about the closure would not be a permitted use of the data they have from your delay-repay claims. The...

Hypothetical: what to do if you realise you're travelling with an expired railcard?

I've done it in the past (before digital railcards were a thing) - though I only noticed after I'd completed my journey and was no longer on railway property.

Caution issued on train but I had ticket

I've seen on here before that GTR actually proposed running Thameslink all-standard but at the time of the franchise award the DfT wanted 1st retained. Almost certainly nothing going to be done in that direction until next franchise award- there are many threads on here about the pros and cons...

Govia Thameslink - Notice of intention to prosecute

They're prosecuting you under Byelaw 18; this does not carry a criminal record. By the sound of it, you may be lucky they're not going for a more serious charge. Plead guilty, pay the fine, don't deliberately attempt to evade paying the fare again (this was no mistake, it was a deliberate act)

Fine from over 1 year ago, no contact, no warning

where does the "12 months" start? If this was truly unexpected, why is there a time frame?

    Permitted Route Problem

that's quite the anomaly- I follow the explanation of it's validity, but I'm not surprised that various enforcement staff will be rather confused what a ticket between two station in the London suburbs is doing at a station by the seaside! When there's a negative easement issued to stop this...

Consequences of drinking wine or beer on a 'dry train'

I was once asked if I was carrying alcohol at the gateline at Kings Cross, when all the intercity services were dry. But I was travelling to Cambridge. The local trains weren't dry.

    Card Declined (Again!)

I'd be suspecting there's half a chance that he's nicked the card anyway...

    Penalty Fare attempt at Norwich

Confusion did indeed reign- RJ had quoted from the wrong tab, and I'm made a leaping assumption that he'd attempted to buy a ticket just before the time he thought the ticket office closed. The reality is much more sensible!

    Penalty Fare attempt at Norwich

Whilst the way you were treated does sound shoddy, I am a little confused as to why you thought you could get a ticket from Ely station at 1am, and when you were then travelling? The last train from Ely to Norwich is at 2310. The first is at 0620 The last train from Ely to anywhere at all...

Threat of Prosecution for £2.00! West St Leonards to Hastings

Common pattern when new members come on and get given a reasonable explanation as to why they were in the wrong. I think they get upset that we don't have magic solutions.

Penalty fare travelling from Ely to London Kings X

If when booking on RSH you had selected the correct day for your return journey it would not have offered any sort of Day Return. If you leave the Return date as the same day it will default to showing you the cheapest valid day returns.

    Bizarre Experience on East Coast

I've once travelled without paying- boarded at an unstaffed station with a broken machine, train was DOO with no RPI, station at destination had gates open, no staff in sight and all ticket windows shut (just machines). On the other hand, once boarded without a ticket at another broken...

British Transport Commission Act 1949 (section 55)

Quite. Those "stop look listen" signs at barrow crossings are reminders for authorised staff. You passed a sign specifically prohibiting you from doing what you did.
