These are not new roles they are replacing expected retirements and those moving to other companies.

    Derailment near Grange Over Sands

There is already a scheduled hourly shuttle on the Windermere branch. It's not possible to add another train in to do this without changing this schedule, which would inconvenience locals. This also doesn't automatically line up.with paths on the WCML either due to freight paths so they can't...

    ASLEF strikes 5th-8th April weekend

Maybe if the government are insisting that unions put all offers to the members, they should foot the bill for these ballots. Then it may result in sensible offers being made.

    Derailment near Grange Over Sands

Looking at Google maps there does seem to be a stream that passes under the railway and adjacent road.

Mark Harper makes excuses over Northern's 24 Dec and 31 Dec failures.

Should also be added that the 'significant' inducements of a taxable £100 was only offered 3 or 4 days prior when staff had already mostly made plans. Prior to that, management stated they would not be adding any inducements and didn't need volunteers to work as they would have enough volunteer...

RMT Industrial Action Update to members

I think they mean 3am finish Sunday morning after a late shift, then back in work 3am Monday morning for an early. The Sunday being classed as a rest day but you get precisely 24 hours between shifts, where you effectively need to sleep twice in that time.

Why aren't West Midlands Trains (aka London Northwestern Railway) running ANY services on Sunday 4th February 2024?

TOCs are being pressured by the DFT to cut costs, DFT setting fees paid for replacement transport and encouraging reduced provision. So I very much doubt the government will pressure the TOCs to increase spend on transport especially where they vcan blame the unions. The fare paying passenger is...

    Wires down Manchester Oxford Road?

It would be easy if these trains were crewed entirely from the Blackpool end but they are crewed from Blackpool, Manchester Victoria, Manchester Piccadilly, Buxton and Wigan, with many changeovers happening at Manchester Oxford Road. Getting those crews to/from Bolton would cause major issues.

Storm Isha may affect your journey in parts of England, Scotland and Wales on Sunday 21 and Monday 22 January

The media reporting on the Manchester to Stansted flight apparently a bit misleading as it was an empty positioning flight, that was then sent to Budapest because it was it's next planned destination.

ASLEF announce five days of strike action on LNER due to potential implementation of Minimum Service Law

Should me noted that the governments own impact assessment on the bill stated that bringing in the bill would likely cause longer and more widespread action. They ignored this advice and brought the bill in anyway.

    Northern Ad hoc cancellations

January always has less train crew related cancellations than before xmas. Fewer people want daily leave, and booked weekly leave for drivers hasn't started yet at many depots.

    Northern Ad hoc cancellations

It does seem a replacement bus is scheduled to run although the end to end journey time is 3 hours.

Northern: DO NOT TRAVEL 24th & 31st December

Theres also the fact that several staff have been unable to get back to there home depot by taxis not turning up as Northern refuse to pay extra on NYE so drivers refuse the jobs.

Northern: DO NOT TRAVEL 24th & 31st December

As does Stalybridge to Manchester and has alternative TPE services. Ashton to Manchester has Metrolink hopefully ticket acceptance has been arranged. If it was a joined up railway TPE would just make additional stops at Ashton.

Northern: DO NOT TRAVEL 24th & 31st December

Yes he's been quite insistent that they should be included within the working week not added to to the working week as enforced overtime. What's unreasonable about that?

Northern: DO NOT TRAVEL 24th & 31st December

No they've agreed a paydeal for 2022 with an agreement they won't strike until April whilst discussions take place for the 2023 and 2024 pay. Drivers are on different conditions which means they are obligated to work Sundays.

Northern: DO NOT TRAVEL 24th & 31st December

Yes it was pointed out by the RMT at least 3 weeks ago. A booking on enhancement was asked for. Senior management said there would be enough local management cover so wouldn't be offering any enhancement. (Presumably those managers would be getting enhanced rates though). They've then realised...
