£9 advance Derby to London Euston LM/XC

I have travelled on numerous occasions using this newly introduced fare, via Tamworth, as it is only slightly longer than EMT now that LM have speeded up their service. I often find £9 advances available right up until the day before from Euston to Derby (something which EMT hardly ever have) however, I have yet to find a advance ticket in the opposite direction from Derby to London Euston, only being offered a 'super off peak' for £32 return. Is this due to the XC reservation, as the outbound XC connection is usually an unreserved train. Has anyone had any luck on this front...

anytime in the afternoon from Derby, can find advance tickets, but via Birmingham new st, whick is sooo slow, cannot find any changing at Tamworth..

I think you need to take the Nottingham to Birmingham XC service to get the cheap fares. (I guess that there are no quotas on that train).

However, due to the timetabling, there is a quicker connection, so the journey planners don't show it.

You can get National Rail to show the tickets by adding a 30 minute increment to the changing times, but I can't see any way to buy them online.

This works on East Coast (LM site probably will too):

From: Derby
To: London Euston
Via: Willington

Time, date whatever etc etc.

Click Search.

Then after the screen loads up, open the search panel again and click Timetables Only at the bottom left next to where the search button is.

Enter on the left under the "Trains that stop at:" heading, Nuneaton.

Then click Update.

Your desired trains should show, so click the green Buy a Ticket button then select the £9 advance

thanks so much. loads of £9 availibility get peeeved, handing over excessive amounts to EM trains for their tickets, this little trick will save me money when I visit the folks... thanks again Rich
