Excellent, thats one for meThere's a third one just gone up as well. Leeds to St Pancras with 45118.
Yeah, that’s the most likely for me so far! There's a third one just gone up as well. Leeds to St Pancras with 45118.
Just what I was hoping for - a tour from Leeds. There's a third one just gone up as well. Leeds to St Pancras with 45118.
Oh now that's not the attitude sirJust what I was hoping for - a tour from Leeds.
Hauled by a Wagon. So perhaps not.
Look on the bright side....it may fail and be rescued by a pair of tractors! It has failed once already since its return to the main line.Just what I was hoping for - a tour from Leeds.

Intercity generally doesn't offer dining. There was one tour recently which did, but that was very much an exception.I’m looking at going on the class 87 railtour but when I look at the tickets online I can’t find a dining option. I would of thought that there would be a dining option surely? Given the length of the journey.
To be fair to LSL they do always do lots of cooked breakfast options and cooked meal later in the day, so if it's that holding you back I would book with confidence, well at least 100/ more confidence than pathfinder ATM anywayI’m looking at going on the class 87 railtour but when I look at the tickets online I can’t find a dining option. Yes the sample buffet menu on the website doesn't list anything more substantial than snacks but the Scottish Push-Pull I did in October had some hot food options. Breakfast rolls, sandwiches, soup, I feel like there was a pie at one point and also hot dogs. Nothing gourmet and not close to a proper dining but there was no risk of starving! To be fair to LSL they do always do lots of cooked breakfast options and cooked meal later in the day, so if it's that holding you back I would book with confidence, well at least 100/ more confidence than pathfinder ATM anyway
Yet. The crux of the issue that LSL has is that the current INTERCITY rake is formed up of former Greater Anglia Mk3s who, due to capacity constraints, converted their RFM Buffets into small miniature buffets (trust me, those counters are small!). They do however, have ex Pretendolino RFM 10212 at Eastleigh Works undergoing refurbishment though it hasn't been released into traffic yet. So it's likely their catering range will be expanded in the future.Intercity generally doesn't offer dining. There was one tour recently which did, but that was very much an exception.
I feel much the same - the tour looks fabulous - but most of the return on the ECML will be in the dark... now if they could put this on in May/June/July... I'd book it in an instantAs much as I’d like to go on the 87 to Edinburgh it seems a bit long. Especially when you don’t have a lot of time to see Edinburgh. Hopefully they’ll be a intercity railtour to somewhere a bit closer like Yorkshire or Manchester next year.
I’d have been tempted, I agree, but I already have other plans for 10 January. Otherwise I’d think of staying two nights in London and taking the trip, but longer days would be better.I feel much the same - the tour looks fabulous - but most of the return on the ECML will be in the dark... now if they could put this on in May/June/July... I absolutely agree. If they were running it in say July I'd be booking immediately.I feel much the same - the tour looks fabulous - but most of the return on the ECML will be in the dark... now if they could put this on in May/June/July... I'd book it in an instant
Presumably Intercity run these more marginal tours in winter to help retain route knowledge for the more profitable core business of summer steam tours. There are trade offs with everything, and the price is still competitive, with the most scenic bits of route still in daylight…I absolutely agree. If they were running it in say July I'd be booking immediately.
Yeah but a hotel in London in July wouldn't be affordable for most so it's a bit of a crap shoot in that respect, I would've preferred going up the ECML in daylight then back down the WCML, but we are where we areI absolutely agree. If they were running it in say July I'd be booking immediately.
Yep, it’s been touched on in the LSL fleet updates thread.Got a email to say the emperor of the north is cancelled on the 17th January due to low bookings.
Always looked a bit odd mixing Sulzer and EE but then the 45/40 trip ran OK last weekend.Got a email to say the emperor of the north is cancelled on the 17th January due to low bookings.
