Can someone please tell me what times Class 444s run from Waterloo to Portsmouth Harbour via Guildford on Mon-Fri, Saturday and Sunday? Thanks

I'm normally using the stoppers so I'm not too familiar with what's on the semi-fasts, but my experience is that pretty much all weekend services on the Direct are 450s.

I think weekdays are a mixture, but I couldn't say how consistent the allocations are, or what's likely on any given service.

Always been plenty of 444s on Sundays, and there are some on Saturdays too now. I don't mind checking individual services but haven't really got time to write every train out for the whole week.

Having been from Waterloo to Havant a couple of times, the xx:00 and xx:30s on weekdays tend to be 444s, if you check realtime trains you can see they have a trolley service, which means it can only be a 444. Anything else assume to be 450. As for the peaks and weekends, I have no idea.

Trolley Buffets are provided on 450s as well as 444s; the 08.30, 09.00, 09.30, 10.00, 13.30, 14.30, 16.00, 17.30, 18.00, 19.30, 20.00, 22.00 and 22.30 fasts from memory are all 450s ex Waterloo on weekdays.

Well, I stand corrected. Now I see why the forums have been moaning (and regular commuters on BBC news) for years about 3+2 450s running far more often than 444s. They never built enough of the latter it seems.

It wasn't the lack off 444s as built but the decision to, dare I mention them, get rid of those other much loved Mark 3 based units, which went into storage for a long period, allowing them to deteriorate. Now, huge sums are being spent to try to re-introduce them, which will again probably be looked back upon one day as a bad decision. Time will tell.
