I believe 92 040 is at Brush Works in Loughborough. Could someone please tell me if there is a certain vantage point to see it from, and if so, how to get there by either foot or car from the station, if necessary.

Theres a public right of way around the southern edge of Brush works that leads past the rail sheds part of the site. No idea if you can get a view here though as I've never been. Theres no public road access to that part of site looking at Google Earth. Access to the public right of way is from the A60, between access road to the site and the rail bridge for the GCRN.
Check the map on the Leicestershire CC website for public rights of way.

When the Class 60s were being built, yes I am that old, I called several times on Sunday mornings and was able to drive through the car park to the back of the works where all the new builds were stored. I haven't been for a long while since was there so I do t know if this is still possible to do.

There used to be a large electric pylon in that field (probably still there). I stood underneath it and took a photograph whilst looking up,I ended up with a bad headache. I should have stuck to the 60s.

Aye - still in the same spot. 040 (on the left) and 045 are in full view from the field behind (which is publicly accessible). [021 + 046 are not so visible!]

The four GBRf-owned (ex-Europorte) 92s that are still stored are all at Brush now - 021, 040, 045 and 046. All were originally EPS (European Passenger Services) owned and all stored 24 April 2001 - so 19 years now.

There may have been on and off plans in the past, but no recent plans to reinstate any of these and they've all been used as spare donors to varying degrees (most of them a lot!) for the active 12 locos in the GB fleet. I'd be very surprised if any more came back - certainly as a traditional 92.

020 (also ex-EPS and stored at the same time) was reinstated in late 2018 after almost 18 years in store.
006 (ex-SNCF and stored in Feb 06) was reinstated in summer 2019 after 13 years in store.

032 was another ex-EPS one stored in April 2001 when Nightstar had died a death and EPS couldn't find buyers for their 7x 92s. It was returned to traffic in late 2009 after Europorte bought it (along with the other ex-EPS 92s) in 2007.
