Any updates on this:

I know the local campaign group CRAG were lobbying to get the station reinstated during the EGIP consultation too, but haven't heard anything about it recently.

I believe that no decision has yet been made about whether the turnback is still required under the revised EGIP plans. Once more detailed timetable modelling has been carried out a decision will be made.

You'd then need a station promoter to do a business case appraisal for an additional station - probably Edinburgh Council in this case. If positive their is some money in the Scottish Stations Fund for schemes like this.

I don't think that Abbeyhill Station's promotion as the Haymarket of the east (see various claims made by its fans) stacks up in any way. Two tracks, off the mainline, and of course any access from the east would require reversal or rebuilding the loop behind Meadowbank. Since most bus services are on the east-west access, onward bus journeys would in many cases require further changes. I can think of better things to spend the money on, in terms of Edinburgh rail infrastructure. If there was ever a plan to reopen the 'Sub', I might change my mind.

And, by the way, the state of Edinburgh's finances suggests they would struggle to support the opening of a new litter bin, let alone a station...
