A walk along the coastal path between Aberporth and Tresaith highlighted a local commitment to holiday homes based on old railway carriages. ......

Between Aberporth and Tresaith the Ceredigion Coastal Path has, for the majority of its length, been upgraded as a path accessible to all. Fantastic views across Cardigan Bay are now available to us all.

Amid the great scenery there are a series of Edwardian railway carriages which have been converted to holiday homes.

I read your piece on this the other day Roger and it was fascinating. Although much modified there’s some interesting survivors incorporated into these homes.

A fascinating article. Similarly I’m intrigued by the carriage conversions at Dungeness and I imagine there are still dozens of old carriages dotted around our coastline.

Yes, it is finding them all! I just tripped over these, seeing the first was a surprise and then the numbers kept growing and many now in really good condition too!

There's a nice one at Calstock if you're ever down that way. Walk along the riverside downstream toward Danescombe and Cotehele.

It can be seen on googlemaps stereetview opposite Calstock Boatyard.
